New 05 Silver/Quartz/Auto/Nav
New 05 Silver/Quartz/Auto/Nav
Just got it home tonight. $33,775 including mud flaps and floor mats from Continental Acura in Naperville. 13 miles on it when I bought it.
Interesting thing happened about the mud flaps: When I was negotiating the price over the phone, the guy I talked to on the phone told me the mud flaps were already on the car and would be included for free, and when I got there the checkbox for mudflaps on the paperwork was checked, but apparently somebody had taken the mudflaps off the car, so they wrote me an IOU for mudflaps and said they would ship them to me within a week because the parts dept was closed when I was there to buy the car. I think they were hoping I wouldn't notice... oh well. They also tried very hard to charge me a Doc fee, but I managed to convince them not to.
Everything in the car works great, and I've put about 200 miles on it just today! Kept it under 4k RPMs, though, and going easy on the brakes.
This is my first Acura since my 1994 Legend Coupe, which I still have and is in great shape... but it is incredible what they've done in just a decade. My GF looooves it.
List of things to do:
•Zaino
•Stealth installation of Valentine1.
•Ericsson T610 charger installation.
•Moleskin & Tint.
•A-Spec steering wheel.
•Comptech springs (I need to do more research before I decide on this).
I'm also thinking about doing dark burlwood trim over the carbon fiber. Not gaudy; tasteful.
Only thing I can think to complain of right now is that the auto dimming on the side mirrors doesnt seem to dim dark enough.
Time to go and start working on the V1 install. Need to order the Helms manual too. Maybe I'll post pix if I find time between driving and working on the car.

Congrats on your new TL! I've got the same car (but 04). Love the exterior and interior colors (especially how all the silver/grey/black/aluminum colors mix and break up the inside look -- IMO better than the solid black/ebony, and a heck of a lot easier to keep clean and looking dust-free). I know it's hard the first few days (and weeks) to not drive it a lot. Enjoy!!

BTW...You shouldn't need to install the moleskin. I verfied the statement by another member that the '05s have felt, where the '04s do not.

congrats Mr. Lawyer! Where do you plan on getting yours tinted? I'm still in the process of researching a good place to get mine done. Also, my TL is lowered on comptechs, so if you need to know anything about them, ask away.
Congratulations on completing the offer, acceptance and consideration portions of getting your new vehicle! I too have a silver/quartz 5AT TL. It's a gorgeous combination. Can you guess what i'm studying to become?
I would live in it if the rear seats folded down like they do in my brother's E-class. One of the few things that other manufacturers offer and I wish the Acura had.
As for the mud flaps, they are kinda necessary to protect your rear quarterpanels here in Chicago what with all the potholes and gravel and crap on the road.
I'm trying to find a good place near chicago for the tinting and another good place for the springs. The way I see it, comptech springs are at least as good as the A-spec, but for less than half the price, including labor. I'm thinking 1 - 1.5 inches lower, and 19s.
Csunracer: Contracts.

My Ericsson T610 fits perfectly in the bin under the radio when it is on it's side. I am thinking of installing a charger plug in the front (as in front of the car) of that bin so that when the phone slides in along the right side of the bin, it will slide onto the charger plug. I just need to know how to take apart the dashboard/console to get access to the back of the radio/bins so that I can run 12v DC to the plug I would install there.
I tried calling Helms to get a manual a few days ago and they said they were out of them, but expect to have them in within 45 business days.
I ran a search and all I could find was someone else asking the same question a few months ago, and it was mostly answered with "RTF Helms M".

Thanks for all the welcomes, guys.
I restated my last post as a new thread asking how to take apart the console.
Also, today I picked up four strips of chrome door edge guards from Walmart for about $1.25 each. I will be fitting them to my lower front grills, similar to how Anthracite_Man did his: http://img54.exs.cx/img54/4986/grill1.jpg
I've noticed that even at low volume, the Valentine 1 interferes with HFL and voice controls. This is probably because the V1 is mounted almost right next to the HFL/Voice control microphone in the ceiling. I ordered a remote audio unit off eBay and am going to try installing that somewhere further away from the microphone, like maybe in one of the bins in the console.
