Need to vent...ugh...

Welp I love my TL just like any other person on this site but today has possibly been the worst day of owning the car!!!

I woke up this morning ready to drive and the starter died!!
I was just thankful it happened in my driveway and not no where else far away from home. So $180 later and a new starter I'm on my way to driving my TL again.

Later driving home from dinner my passenger side headlight starts flickering and I'm like WTF!!!!! I already knew what was wrong because 2 and a half months ago I had the same problem with the drivers side headlight. I had to replace the ignitor.

So tomorrow I'm going to spend more money on my car that has pretty much been problem free. But what really makes me upset is that i had a extended warranty up to 99,269 miles. As of this morning I have 99,7xx. I love how stuff breaks right after your warranty expires...

Have a Good Night!

well like you said, it's been pretty much problem free since you had your car. an 8 year old car with very minor issues isn't that bad. some have it a lot worse.

Man, the problem that you are having is nothing..... just check my current thread

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/big-wtf-problems-863265/

This is my new list of problem that the dealer found out:

P/S PUMP LEAKING (RESEAL) - $270.00
P/S FLUID FLUSH - $139.95
REAR MAIN SEAL LEAKING - $1,279.00
CONTROL ARM BUSHING TORN - $634.00
FRONT AND SIDE ENGINE TORN - $695.00
A/C LINE LEAKING - $464.50

TOTAL : $3482.45

What i just fixed this following year

P/S RACK AND PINION - $800.00
REPLACED FAULTY WIPER MOTOR - $386.41

Total I spent this year: $1186.41

But I'm getting second opinion this weekend just to confirm and I'm certain that the stealership is conning me.

sucks but today was the worst day...7 years after it was built lol. quite a long time, if i do say so myself. i was still in high school when both of our cars were made, and you weren't even old enough to drive. I'm 2 years out of college now lol.

just an assumption from your join date that you've had your car for 4 of those years already without issues. Other than the recalls i bet it didnt have many issues in the 3 before you bought it. A few hundred bucks in unexpected maintenance over a course of 4 years, let alone 7, is minimal at best.

also expect a relatively hefty expense on the 105k/timing belt job soon.

As time goes on, little things will start to go out.

Be ready.

Be thankful you've been problem free this far, every car begins to break down, the TL just has a great way of delaying it

I hope you don't get rid of the car because of a few things breaking, the only way out of it is to get a new car, but even then you have a chance of that breaking!

That's why young people should buy a car they can pocket for repairs.

it's natural that cars get old and parts start to break or need to be replaced... just like people.

ALWAYS budget for this type of emergency stuff ahead of time so you're prepared when something "unexpectedly" breaks.

I can't tell the difference? I don't believe the old one made any noises.

I agree my repairs are minor and I didn't have to let the dealer work on the car! like I said earlier, it was that the warranty expired and BAM these 2 problems happen.

Thats true the TL does have a way of delaying things when the warranty expires lol

My day wasn't to rough but I'm glad the car is fine now (knocks on wood) I also did the 105k timing belt change at 93,xxx miles so I'm good for another 105k miles

Be thankful you drive an 8 year old Acura and not an 8 year old Bimmer.

My friend has an E46 325i and you'd better be ready to put your big boy pants on when you have to take it to the dealer.
