Need help with my "new" AM 5at Please

I just picked up a 5at 06 base with 130k miles from a family member for a steal. I'm somewhat content with the vtec/power but want a more sporty feel. After reading forums, I'm looking to get a progress RSB with moog end links, type s bumper and exhaust, and xlr8 j pipe. Questions I have are will the RSB cause subframe problems or any problems in general? Will the j pipe be fine on the car when it is virtually stock? The type s bumper and exhaust will be the last mod and most expensive at about $1000 with painting installing etc. is there any benefit besides looks and should I just keep the stock exhaust? Plan is to get a 370 in the future so don't want to do much more than this unless it's really bang for buck (open to suggestions). Thanks

Leave it as is and save money, no real advantage to any add-ons.

I'd keep it stock as much, they are reliable stock once modifying them then these cars tend to act up and parts ware much more quicker.

Do it. You'll be fine. I wouldn't invest much more than that. Performance isn't going to be found in a 5AT.

So issues with RSB shouldnt be expected and the j pipe will be noticable?

The best advice would be to save your money for a transmission rebuild or a transmission conversion to the AV6 tranny. The upgrades you're considering are both pricey and will yield only a few extra ponies, and other than the extra noise, you really won't gain anything.

I would forgo the Type S bumper and exhaust unless you really want the quad look. I've read the J-pipe enhances the mid-range and if you find a used one, it can be a good mod.

Honestly, I would just make sure the maintenance is up to date and save the money you would spend modding the TL for the fun car you intend to buy.

The 2006-2007 Accord V6 automatic transmission is a plug-in replacement for the unit in your car, but much-MUCH more robust.

Ah I see, is it the auto only or can you go with a 6spd?

If that is the case, just go and find an 04-06 TL 6Spd.

In theory you can swap your automatic 3G TL for a 6-Speed manual, but like I said, in theory. Such a conversion is both very expensive, time consuming, and fraught with pitfalls which will render the job either more expensive, or simply not doable within the available cash you have on hand.

Better and cheaper by far is to sell the car and buy one built from the factory with a 6-Speed.

You'll be fine. As for the j-pipe.. It's not noticeable but the gain is there.

I don't know why people waste money on bolt on for AT, unless you do some FI bolt on that AT gear box will rob any ACTUAL power gain from bolt on part.

rear sway bar and call it a day--def removed 75% of the car's body roll.

Do the preventative maintenance on the 5AT and it SHOULD, in theory, last for awhile. Do the pressure switches and take a look at your tranny fluid. The pressure switches falling out of spec are the main killer of this transmission. I have about 118k on my 5AT and am very nervous about the failure. Occasionally, I feel like the car holds a gear for a long time before is shifts up or down if I am coasting. A rebuild will run me ~$2500, but the shop offers a 3 year/36k mile warranty. My tranny definitely has some quirks, but 90% of the time, it seems to shift smooth, it's only if I let off the accelerator while accelerating and get back on quickly where the car will jerk harder between gears. I dunno, I'd rather not think about failure and just hope I get at least another year out of the car so I am a bit more financially stable. Aggressively paid this car off and working on finishing up some student loans.

As far as mods go, I've gone strictly for handling. I've put on Tein Street Advance Z coilovers and the PCI spherical ball bearing compliance bushings. Significant improvement in high speed stability and overall body roll. Progress rear sway is really the only mod I have in mind currently. Maybe a J-pipe, but I dunno. I figure I can always remove any parts and sell them separately from the car. Ideally, I want a 6MT Type S, but my current TL is paid off and I don't have straight cash to buy a clean Type S. However, I'm about to buy a full 04-06 base ASpec kit tomorrow. I'm all over the place, if you couldn't tell by my rambling post. haha

I went with a Type S rsb, coupled with new OEM struts and H&R Sport springs. The ride is less harsh and "crashy" over bumps and potholes, less body roll, just overall more enjoyment. If I were to redo it, Id go with Koni Yellow struts and H&R Race springs instead, but it handles very well for what it is, even at 180k.

Did a 3x3 trans flush with 6qt of Redline D4 and 3qt of Redline lightweight racing ATF, changed the trans fluid filter and replaced both pressure switches, that was about 18k ago. So far, all is well.

How much/where did you pick up the RSB? Im looking for a progress or types RSB but dont really want to pay 160. Also whats the benefit on doing that tranny fluid and did u need to change pressure switch and filter?
