Need help on installing aftermarket deck lip

Need help on installing aftermarket deck lip

Well i just order the deck lip from ebay for around $100 bucks, but i was just wondering how everyone else prep the the trunk for installation. i was thinking of claying but im not sure if i could get a hold of some without ordering online? does anyone know any local shop that carrys clay bar like autozone or pepboys or something.

Bodyshops use a chemical wax and grease remover. At least the one I worked at years ago did.

I cleaned the part of the trunk lid, clayed it, wiped it clean, then cleaned it again with alcohol before test fitting the spoiler.

And I bet you havent had any probs since...right? You cant get much better prep than that! You covered the full range there!

Not a single problem. I tried to push it toward the rear windshield and the spoiler didn't even budge.

i heard alcohol is bad for your paint? is that true?

Depends on what you mean by "bad". If you wash your car with alcohol every other day, I'm sure it'll harm the paint one way or another.

If you apply alcohol on the paint once, I don't think you actually harm anything.
