Need help guys... possible buyer?

Alright everyone, as some of you may know I am selling my TL. I got my first hit today from Craigslist... This is what the person said..

"Are you willing to have your payments assumed til the end of the year. I am purchasing a home and am cleaning up some identity fraud. I will be free to complete the purchase by the end of December. If so, what are your monthly payments and insurance payments. I could get my own auto insurance."

This person is willing to meet and look at the car and everything.. But has anyone else done something like this? I wouldn't even know where to begin... A little help would be nice.

Thanks everyone

Well... I am no expert but.... I would tell him you would rather wait until december when he could buy the car outright from you. This is a little to sticky of a situation to get into with a stranger. Shoot I won't do it with friends cause that would but unwanted pressure on our relationship. Anywho..keep the car out there and see if someone else will bite. Worst case you have to wait until december to sell the car.

Its better than him buying the car, his fraud cleanup story is a scam, he flies off to Africa or Syria, and your recoarse is slim to none.

When selling a car patience and time are your allies.

Peace

...In addition, put it on autotrader if you haven't already and visit some other acura forums and put it up on thier for sale sections. Get some buzz going about your car.

Stay away from that buyer. If he assumes your loan on your credit, you are 100%responsible for the car, but he gets to use it for payments he may never make. Never ever do this!!!

Stay away that is 100% a SCAM!!! People who have issues like this have them for a reason. His credit is probaly shoot from abusing it before now he wants to scam u.

Anytime when selling a car. Cash or Bank Check only!!! If its a Bank CHeck Call the bank its drawn on and make sure it is real and legit before giving the cars and the title.

And Never Ever!!

Take more then the car is worth with a check and give cash back to the Buyer this is the biggest scam out there and people fall for it everyday. The check is always Fake our Bounces and you are out your Car and your cash.

Good Luck

Do nto do the deal. Even if he is legit, you can get into some sticky crap. If he wrecks the car and does not carry enough (or any) insurance, the other party (parties) will sue the registered owner (YOU) for any losses from the accident. You will get screwed even if you explain the situation to the court because according to the law the driver/registered owner is responsible for the damages. This is an absolute headache situation for you. Do not do the deal. You are asking for a lot of trouble if you do.

You should have no problem selling the car if you're asking a reasonable price and the car is in good/clean condition. I'd post an ad in AutoTrader or equivalent publication and fish for more serious buyings. You know who's serious because they will ask detailed questions about the car and its maintenance and not start off with questions of payment. Best of luck!
