Came back home from a week of visiting my family and come back to my Acura unable to start.
When attempting to start, power comes on, no noise when cranking, not only that, the key gets stuck in the ignition.
After visually inspecting the engine compartment, I noticed 2 dried up fruits sitting on one of the pipes and after further inspection, I noticed some severed cables!
The severed cables were right below the battery, I went online to find ways to get to it and unfortunately discovered that the battery mounting tray will need to be removed and how difficult it was to remove ( took me a good 2 hours as the last bottom bolt was a pain to get to).
Just from googling, I was able to find out that it goes to a neutral safety switch, but I am struggling to find a replacement cable for this model, it seems like the cable is part of the engine harness?
There is an additional cable severed, it has a black connector next to an identical red connector that are both attached to the engine. This looks like it can be fixed with a simple soldering job, but with not much cable left. Wondering if there is are cable replacements for this part?
Unfortunately I don't have comprehensive coverage, but I have towing, so it can be taken to a mechanic, preferably fix this myself if doable.
I'll take some additional pictures for better reference.
What I'm mainly trying to ask is, are these cables repairable/replaceable without having to replace the entire engine harness? What options do I have?
Additional Info:
I get a flashing green D
I used the shift override to switch to D and N, both gear don't start the car.
Used a OBD scanner and only got O2 sensor error
Oddly only driver side window works
For looking for the cable in a boneyard, I'm not able to even find a replacement online, so I'm afraid it could be the entire engine harness. Doesn't look easy to remove or replace.
As for soldering, that might be my best bet... I'll look into that.
So I soldered the cable with 2 wires, the cable with 6 wires I was not able to remove the connector, no idea how and I don't want to forcibly remove it. Since I believe this is the transmission safety switch, I should still be able to start up the car if I used the shift override. However I had no luck with this after soldering the first cable.
Also, found out that the battery had SOC of 0% when I took it Autozone, got it replaced at Costco. Unfortunately, same thing, power but no sound when cranking. I'm just going to take it to a mechanic at this point.
