Need Help with 06 A-Spec Price Negotiation

I'm considering trying to get a good deal on an '06 non-navi automatic with A-Spec (dealer installed). If I could get a good enough price, and the 07 does not have many changes, I think I'd prefer to save money. Does anyone have any idea what kind of price I should be shooting for? I couple months ago, a local dealer had a price of $39,000. Is $34k a reasonable price to try and get? Should I try lower, or will the salesmen just laugh at me? Thanks in advance for the help!

Ben

32,800 is supposed "invoice" and the a-spec installed does not run $1,200. i think the best price you may be able to get would be 36.5. then again, i bought all the parts one at a time on ebay, self installed and saved alot of cash.

By aspec do you mean FULL aspec which means suspension, wheels, and kit (and lip spoiler depending on who you ask). I think ding069 was saying 1200 for the kit installed.

Prices vary greatly by location...I think ppl in SoCal have been able to get some insanely low prices, well below invoice.

If you are talking just the kit...Id say you might be able to get 34k OTD (out the door - which is inclusive of ALL taxes, dealer fees, DMV fees...etc) If you are talking FULL Aspec - Id lean more towards 36.5k or 37k ...DO NOT pay 39k unless that is the only dealer within a few hours of you. Even then, Id rather drive a few hours than piss away that much extra money...

If you purchase the A-spec discounted online and do the install your self 36K and a little change sounds appropriate.

32,800.00 invoice
2,090.00 A-Spec wheels and suspension (EBAY)
800.00 A-spec body kit (group buy or EBAY)
~600.00 Tires
____________
36,290.00

he was saying "$34,000", i was putting it in terms saying "No dealer you find will provide install and parts of the a-spec kit for $1200"
like you and i both said, $36,500 is much more realistic.

Thanks for the great advice everyone! Yes, I was looking for the entire kit and really had no idea what a good price would be with having the dealer install everything. I'll maybe throw out $36k and see how close the dealer would be willing to get to that.

Does anyone think there might be manufacturer or dealer incentives when the 07s start showing up that would help me get an even lower price? Does anyone know if Acura has ever done that in the past when the new model years come out?

Thanks again!

Hey..if youre aiming for 36k...start lower...like at 35k (OTD of course) and the when he doesnt agree...let 36k be your final offer...

i just paid 38k for mine but that includes Navi. This is in NJ. I don't know if i got a good deal but if you are aiming for 36k non-Navi, that'll be what i got. I heard it can go even lower from another dealer (37k with navi) after i closed the deal but he could be talking out of his ass.

Hope that helped!

Totally didnt realize you said non-navi until now....
You should be aiming for <35k, so start negotiations at 33.5ish or 34k

I HATE Car Salesmen

So I sent out about five e-mails today asking dealerships within a 5 hour radius of me to send me their best price on an 06 a-spec NON-NAVI. Here's the first respone I got... quote:

The A-spec package retails for $6,800 including
installation which is done only at Acura dealer. You may wish to skip the
"lowering kit" portion of the A-spec. I then can get it done for
$2,916(incl. front, rear both side spoilers, deck lid spoiler and 18" wheels.
The 18" tires you choose are extra. Your purchase price without the 18"
tires and without the lowering kit is $35,416 plus fee's. Your price
with full A-spec installed less 18" tires is $38,300 plus fee's.

The second salesman from another dealership contacted me via phone. I started asking questions about a used 06 with 5k miles they had with a price of 30k. He was just plain rude. I started asking about price and he made smartass comments about why he would negotiate price over the phone. I told him it would be a 5 hour drive for me to get to his dealership. He made some smart comment asking what I'd do if he theoretically lowered the price by 1k... purchase using a credit card over the phone? He was a pure asshole... at Muller's Woodfield Acura in Chicago area.

Why does buying a car at a good, fair price have to be so difficult?!?!? We'll see what other responses I get, but so far I'm leaning toward avoiding Acura all-together.

Thanks for the great advice here, though. You guys rock!!

no one is gonna give you the bottom line over the phone....reason being that before they give you their best price, they need to know you will definilty buy the car. over the phone they dont know shit about you, whether your a 15 yr old pranking them or a millionarie that needs a beater car and just wants a good price. (those are extreme examples but you get the point)

if you really want to get their attention, you need to show them ur READY to purchase and then throw prices that other people paid or that other dealers offered. That'll show that ur doing your research and you are obviously serious.

Some salesman will just be dicks, be a dick back them and move on. you will find a nice salesman and a good one that will try to make the process easy. its just luck on how many salesmen you have to go thru to find a good one.

HOWEVER, the best negotiations will be done in person, and for the best deal it will probalby take a couple hours, if not days (leaving mad and coming back after they call you to offer you a better deal).

good luck
