Need all your help getting some interior Decibel levels!
I'm working on a sound deadening project and would like to get some help from you all. All of you with an iPhone download the free app called SPL Meter this will measure the decibel levels. The next time your on the highway cruising at 70mph turn the radio off and use the app to see what decibel levels your getting. Also post what tires you are running. I'm really interest in seeing what everyone gets!

that app wasn't free anymore so I grabbed the free "Simple SPL Meter". My mods are below. This was taken at 70 MPH, on Goodyear Eagle GTs, on a concrete interstate surface. I'll try again tonight on an asphalt surface.

Took one measurement at 70 and one at 80.
I am riding on AT A-spec suspension with 18 x 8 A-spec rims wrapped in Bridgestone Protenza RE760 sport (235/40/18). Tires have approx 6-7K on them.
Only mods to change sound are AEM CAI and RV-6 V-3 J-pipe.

Hey man Im really interested in figuring out if your wind deflectors are getting you such low decibel reading. I cant get lower then 78 and I have 1/2" of foam coating all my doors and most of the back of my car! Can anyone else try this that has wind deflectors?

Seriously if I can confirm I will be getting some for sure! 9-10 Decibels is quite a big noise reduction. Do you hear any wind noise on the highway while holding your ear near the window? Which iPhone do you have the mic could be different too.

Its an iPhone app I dont know anything about the android market. Just look for any decibel sound meter and see what you get. I have tried a few apps and they all read around the same.

Just a suggestion with the wind deflectors lowering the sound, the type-s has the active noise cancellation technology in it. Not sure if that's whats lowering it so much but it is a possibility.

We will see what happens when I take the summer wheels off and go back to the all season stock set-up.
