Need Advice on Tint ASAP... and yes I know this has been discussed before

I know this has been hashed over many times, but I still remain somewhat confused.

1. I plan on installing 35% (tint actually rated at 38%) tint all around. The legal limit in my state is 35%. Will the combination of the factory tint and the new tint make it illegal?

2. I have heard many arguments about using metallic tint on the rear window. I am planning on using Llumar ATR which does have some metal in it. The installer claimed they have had very few complaints over the years with decreased radio (am) reception. The installer stated the only car they have ever experienced a reduced radio reception was with a particular make of Mercedes. The installer stated that on the Mercedes car they use the standard Llumar AT (with no metal). They said they would put the AT on my rear window if I want, but that it does not carry a lifetime gaurantee. I do not have Navi.

Here's my question, has anybody really experienced poor radio reception after installing a metallic tint? It should be known that I like listening to AM radio (for sports of course) during long road trips on the highway so good reception is important to me.

3. Lastly does anybody with the 35% tint feel it is too dark at night (or day) and that visibility is impacted. I also use the road for my two wheeled vehicle so I am always conscious of being able to see bikes.

Thanks for the help

if you are goign to tinit, go with the good stuff. no point in wasting money on inferior tint and having to fix it later.

I just had Llumar ATR installed on my non-navi vehicle. The price was $119 out the door with lifetime warrenty from a good shop. I figure at this price if the tint scratches or if I'm unhappy I'll reinstall/replace it and install the moleskin the second time around.

I did not notice any decrease in AM/FM reception.

$119 is really inexpensive compared to what I have been quoted ($169.00) and I have called four different shops

get some Huper Optik Klasse or Ceramic line of tint !! Klasse is metallized, so if you don't want metallized get their Ceramic line. H.O. is the best stuff out there.

i'm in NY, a tinter in Mastic will do any H.O. tint (4 door sedan) for $450.
