NAVI updates?

How does that work? I noticed the other day that I was driving on an unmarked street and the Nav put some "cookie crumbs" on the map but yesterday I was on another unmapped street and the Nav didn't do it this time.
Did I accidently turn a feature off or something?

Believe that when i see it. They told me that in 2001 when i bought my CLS. First update came out at the start of this year. Hope they change their tune but seeing will have to be believing on that one.
Plus is pretty expensive ($180) for each update so is not something most people will do every year for the minimal gains they would get
I just had to check this whole "cookie crumb" thing. Just tried this on the Nav: I used the "map input" to select a destination. I chose the last "crumb" on that unknown street. The nav did plot a course up to the nearest known street but not on the unknown one. So it sorta says: "I can guide up to your cookie crumbs from where you are now but from there on you'll have to follow your cookie crumb trail".
Pretty cool feature.
There's a funny story that goes along with this:
I was heading to my friend's place to watch the hockey game. He lives in a new development that was built last summer. I asked him the exact address thinking the nav could guide me, just for the fun of it. The Nav didn't know about the street so I was screwed. Anyway, I went to his place using my memory since I'd been there several times before. When I got there is when I noticed the Nav lay down these "cookie crumbs".
So I get to my friend's house and we start chatting and I tell him my Nav can't see the street. He says: "Show me". We get into my TL and I show him the trail of cookie crumbs and tell him: "See, you're street isn't shown". We tried with his street address and it didn't come up either. He turns to me and says: "Damn guy... your car sucks". So I open the sunroof and I'm looking around the cockpit for another button. He asks: "What are you looking for?". I answer: "The button that fires the ejection seat!".
