NAV owners. Question for you
Hey guys, new to the board... I am really interested in buying a TL in the next few months, a question though. Can you see the NAV screen ok with polarized sun glasses? I use a laptop as a GPS sometimes in my Jeep now, and i cant see it worth Sh&t with my sunglasses on...

I have Oakley polarized lenses and have no problem seeing the screen.

I have polarized Maui Jims and I can see the screen fine. A portion of the a line display above the navi is hard to read with the polarized lenses on. I had real trouble reading the trip computer on my 00 Avalon with these sunglasses but not the navi on the TL.

No problem with my Maui Jims, either.
I was concerned about this as well, and was pleasantly surprised to find no problems. Even all the other LCD displays in the car are very visible. The only exception seems to be the small LCD display over Navi screen, but it seems only slightly affected. I think the important thing to ensure is that your sunglasses' polarization is done properly - it should be vertically polarized and definitely not diagonal (many sunglasses are not vertically polarized!)
To check if your polarized sunglasses are manufactured correctly, take them off away from your nose and look at a flat stretch of asphalt (not concrete). While looking through the lenses, rotate them 90 degrees so they are vertical. If the view of the asphalt is brightest when the lenses are vertical and darkest when horizontal, your lenses are designed correctly. If the brightest/darkest view is somewhere in the middle when rotating, your lenses have been poorly designed - you probably want to get new ones.
If Acura designed their LCD deplays to take into account vertically polarized lenses (and it seems like they have), you should have little degredation with properly designed glasses.

Thanks again guys for all of the informative responses... i test drove a TL yesterday and fell in love with it! I am a jeep guy and really wanted to replace my '94 Grand Cherokee with a new '05 Grand when they come out in Oct with the 5.7L Hemi... but its just soooooooooo expensive... like over $40k... so i was looking at other things i can do with that money and the TL came up in my search... i am just blown away at the speed, comfort (i'm 6'4 and have never been as comfortable in a car as i was in the TL yesterday), ride and handling, and all of the standard features in the car. Just nothing else can compare... my major hurdle will be that i will not be up as high and no 4wd... but you got to give and take... and with the TL i think i am taking more then i am giving

I have a 95 Grand Cherokee and had similar concerns regarding losing 4x4, but I think overall the TL was the best option for me given all the standard equipment and styling. And with Gas going through the roof, I was less inclined to get another SUV.

exactly... the only problem i have is that i'm 22 and my car insurance will alittle bit more then what it would be with a jeep... and the old man doesn't like the fact that i have to burn premium.. well seeing that i only get 16mpg with the jeep and will get what.. 23-25mpg with the TL... i will still be saving money even though i will be burning premium
