My trip to the dealer.

My car said it needed service.

I call up and make an appt.
I bring it in and tell them:
1. i would like new wiper inserts
2. When driving i can hear a lot of whats going on outside. When it rains i hear water under the car.
3. I had some weirld thing where the car would not shift out of 3rd gear. Lasted 5 min then i turned car off and back on and it worked.
4. Rusting on the roters.(I dont know how to spell that lol)
5. Brakes make noise when stopping at 6400 miles.

What they did:
1. New wipers done.
2. They ordered me a new door panal beacuse they heard that i was hearing
3. They said it was the computer or something.
4. They said there is nothing they can do about roters if it is only cosmetic.
^ I dont understand. My car is not even a year old and when ou look at the wheels it looks like crap because of rust. So I will have to call and complain a little more.
5. They said the brakes are fine and they did not hear it. The brakes are still at 60%, whatever that means...

I also asked about what they thought of the tires. I know that what i have sucks (EL42) but the man said he has had no complaints and thinks they are fine.

Happy about the door but roters and brakes somewhat upset me because the brakes still make some noise.

Does your rotors only have rust on them after you wash your car or after it rains? If this is the case than it's normal. Once you start driving and braking, the rust will disappear.

It's amazing how much they rust. Regardless of the age of the car it really depends one where you live and how much you drive the car.

The rust is there to stay. It does not go away. 6,400 miles.

Post a pic of it, if you can. Usually, the rust is pretty common, and does not negatively affect the performance... but you're making it sound like it's a lot worse. I would get some of the members' opinion before complaining more to the dealer (mostly because they'll remember you for bitching about nothing).

Sounds like the dealership/service advisor is either stupid or retarded if they claim they haven't heard anything bad about the EL42's... practically everyone who has them despises them. Getting 2 out of 5 things take care of isn't bad at all... I made an appointment about 1 1/2 weeks ago, and haven't heard from them yet.

On the rotors yes. On the Calipers I don't think so.

that's not even close to normal... even your lug nuts have rust. Is someone pissing on your wheels/brakes on a regular basis?? What year is that TL-S?

Salt I would guess.
That is a lot of rust.
Normaly, the rotors rust, as they are just steel and get hot/cold/wet.

But your car looks like it was driven through salt water, or was driven
a lot when they salt the roads for snow.
Quite normal for salty areas, and the body will be rusting out, along with
lots of other stuff under the car.

Its not a valid warenty claim, but I would buy new disks, lug nuts, sand blast
and paint the calipers, the hub, then paint.

I would guess you need lots of things looked after under the car with that much
rust....
People who live in places where they salt the roads a lot just have to live with cars that rust out in 5 years.
Some companies are MUCH better at rust, VW has a 10 year unlimited mile
rust out warenty....

Yo - what do you do with your car? The rims are so scratched. This wheel (or entire car) has sat in water or a snowbank for an extended amount of time.

That is painful to look at.

Damn! Where the hell is Leawood? Somewhere way up north, I'm guessing...that looks horrible. I think even the amount of rust on the rotor is a bit more than normal...the caliper and lugs is nowhere close to normal (you shouldn't have any). Just think, in a few years, it could eat through your lugs and your wheel could fall off (I know, highly unlikely, but still...). Also, if the brakes and that are that rusted, what does the rest of the car look like underneath? And that car's only a few years old...I'd be a little concerned...

Damn, that's pretty bad. Even my first gen has unrusted calipers and lugs. Only the centre piece of the rotor is rusted for me, and my car is 10 years old.

the car was from new jersey, lots of snow and salt on the roads, the dics are new and have always been like that sense they put them on. i didnt think it was normal but pobably normal for new jerseys roads and climate. leawood is in kansas city. and that rim there is the bad one that i bought all scratched up but at least it wasnt bent like my old one. got it real cheap. underneath the car doesnt look bad at all. just a little rust here and there like on the exaust pipes. i also just bought all new lugs cause i didnt like the rusty ones.
