Is my trip computer broken?? MPG Question..

I recently bought my '05 TL 6M and took a drive from Burlington VT to Cape Cod, MA where I got 34 MPG. I am blown away! Is this typical?? I have read of some drivers getting close to 30 mpg but I certainly didn't drive any special way... cruise control set around 75, premium (93) gas, 162k miles on the car. Should I be concerned?? Nope, no need to be concerned. I just bought a 2006 TL 6-Speed and on my first tank I got 33 mpg (both on the trip computer as well as using the old school method of dividing miles by gallons after the first fillup); and I was only about 70% highway on that tank. Consider this normal; that said, there are plenty of anecdotal reports which indicated heavy urban cycle and/or spirited driving can push fuel economy down into the low twenties, or lower.

Thanks, yeah I've been getting ~22-26mpg around town in light traffic, which is more what I figured I'd get most of the time. I'm happy to hear that my high hwy mpg could be the norm... honestly the gas mileage is just as good as '07 Civic Coupe I sold to buy my TL :-)

In my case I replaced a 2001 Accord V6 EX with the TL and was surprised at the mileage, the Accord is 400 pounds lighter with a smaller and less powerful version of the same engine as in the TL, and yet the TL handily beats the Honda in both urban and highway driving mileage.

How does your Mazda3 compare in gas mileage? I imagine it must get similar or better than ~30 hwy, no? Just curious.

The Mazda3 gets more like 36 to 38 on Regular fuel on the highway, the big difference is the Mazda gets low 30s in urban driving, I rather doubt the Acura will get much more than 25.
