I'm glad to hear you're ok. I hope you have a very quick recovery -- hearing about drunk drivers enrages me soo much --- makes me VERY embarrased and humiliated about the handful of times in my life that I know I've gotten behind the wheel when I shouldn't have (and the only reason I got home safely and others weren't hurt was because of LUCK, not b/c I was a "good driver while intoxicated").

You had one of THE sweetest rides on this board -- you'll have another nice car soon, of that I'm sure -- you have good taste therefore you'll mod your next car the right way.

So what is the status of the other guy? A Ford Ranger straight on at that speed could be pretty bad. Was it fatal?
People die in accidents every day, but it sucks even more when it's because of something so stupid and preventable.

Damm kidd. How's the driver of the other car? Is he ok, because if he is...we should all go out to California as an Acura family and beat the living sh*t out of him.

unfortunately nothing happened to the f-ing drunk, he did however get thrown in the slammer! i second that idea of beating his ass. cuz thats what i want to do everytime i see the pics of my ride. too bad i wouldn't be able to join in on the fun cuz the docs only after 6 freaking days found out that i also have a broken clavicle to go along w/ my two busted ribs. i complained to them since day 1 that it was killing me there. i guess i'll be suing them next!

It brings me great relief to see that you are in good spirits after this horrible accident. Your immediate reaction after getting hit brought a smile to my most likely morbid facial expression that must have come across me. Truly someone was looking out for you, and many thanks to the engineers and designers who have strived to make our cars safe.

My father was in the same accident as yourself, T-boned from the drivers side while he and my mother were in their 2nd gen TL. Both were knocked unconscious and paramedics had to cut the TL apart to get them out. Mom had broken knee and hip, dad had 9 broken ribs, both lungs collapsed, and tubes out of both of his sides to drain out blood and air. His drivers side window shattered and pierced into his arm and shoulder and neck (having window tint film apparently prevents this), which even 3 years after the accident he still has to go to the hospital to have tiny shards removed. He didn't buy a TL again after that (thought it was kind of bad luck) but he said "TL saved my life".

Because it did, I ended up buying one. Good luck and get well!

im glad to hear that both your parents lives were spared in the accident, im feeling the pain they once felt, not a good feeling let me tell you! my windows were tinted so yes, i think that helped big time i just got some minor cuts on my hand and one cut under my left eye. the TL and (God) did save my life, thats why i will be getting another TL

Wow!! That was nasty. After seeing those pics of the left rear door, I moved the
car seat in my TL from the left rear to the center.
My grandpa was killed by a drunk...go after the slim ball.
Get well soon and go get an 07.

HO-LY SHIT! Consider yourself lucky to be alive. Your car on the other hand took a beating. That's definately one of the nicest TLs i've seen. It's a shame that your investments were messed up bc some jerkoff decided to drink and drive. What are you gonna do now?

Should send those pics to Acura USA, with a big thank you. As good as the protection is , they may see something they can improve on and lessen injuries even more.

I'm a newbie here, but still glad to see you are ok.

ok guys about my aftermarket stuff i just told my insurance co. that all that stuff in my trunk were personal belongings, then i call the towing yard were my car was and told them that i was going to pick some of my stuff up. i brought along one of my buddies, to help me. i took all of my stereo stuff from the trunk, amps, sub, cap, 3sixty,yellow top, inside i got the myron & davis dvd player my buddy also ripped off the visors.guy at the tow yard was like "hey you can't take that" my buddy showed him the 7" monitors and said "sure we can." we also got the yellow top that was under the hood along with all monster connectors & rca cables. i wanted my RJ rear bumper but the guy said i cant let you take the bumper . he said that when the insurance co.'s tow truck gets here, he'd call me and that maybe they would let me remove the bumper. he called me, and we got there as the guy was loading it up on the flatbed, so we ambushed him and i sad "hey i paid for that, it's an aftermarket part and i want it". he was very reluctant but then said "ok you have 10 mins". thats all it took. so i also have my RJ rear bumper too.

my car was a 2004 w/nav (that i converted from non nav) w/ 27,000 mi i bought it new for $32,400.00 befor tax/lic my insurance gave me $29,500.00 for it. i gues im ok w/ that. thats just the car part done. there's still the personal injury claim to settle, so we'll see.

I think you made out pretty well, glad you could get as much aftermarket stuff out as you did. The good news is it will all fit back into a 06 or 07 TL, and the way that one protected you it would be hard to justify another car in my mind!

I read in one of the other threads where you said that you were gonna get a TL-S. Are you?

NE way, glad to hear you're relatively OK. This really sucks, you had one of the nicest TL's on here. Make sure that drunk is living on the streets when you get done with him.

hey guys today i went and picked up my maya wheels i was able to salvage all but one the rear driver side was completely smashed, so im gonna order 1 new wheel and then have the rest refinished, i know a good place here in buena park that does that kind of work, called Wheels America

i went yesterday to the acura dealer and looked at the type-s what do you guys think of the red interior lighting? it's gonna take a while to get used to the red. i loved the blue in my old car i know the base TL has blue but it's not a type-s. i know after taking my previous car apart that all they are are little twist on bulbs w/ a blue rubber cover (on the bulb itself). if & when i get the type-s, if the red buggs me enough i might have to do this mod (red to blue) the gauge lights i'll leave alone

That would be hillarious to strip your car down at tow yard.

Acura sent me home without airbag and I was without it for a week. My body shop broke it when they replaced subframe. I was buckling up every minute I was in the car without air bag. Also I had no handsfree, navi, cruise control or audio control which drove me nuts for a week.

I love the red lights. it made me realise that the lights in my 05 are not blue but a mix of white and light green......the red is red and with my taupe interior it reminds me of an audi S4
