I swear this just happened maybe 45 minutes ago, I looked over my car yesterday while it was still dirty and didn't see a thing. Went out for breakfast, came back and washed it this morning and found this huge scratch =(

What do you guys recommend to try and clear it up? I was wondering if I could wax it out? What other products out there helps with scratches like this?

Why do people do this =(

Wow, thats low for a keying... I mean on the runners?

DO you have any little people vandals around there?!

Seriously, that sucks man. I would try SCratchX first. I've had some good results with it. Beyonf that, check this out:

Do a search... GREAT info there.

If it's keyed it's probably pretty deep. If that's the case, then wax, scratch x, or anything else is only going to dull it(maybe) but nothing is going to take that out. You'll need to go to a body shop for paint. I have plenty of deep scratches on my car and I've tried everything. My scratches are dull now, but definitely still there and noticeable. Maybe your insurance will conver it under vandalism.

Ouch, it looks deep in that one strait line. Some of that scrathc remover will fade all the paint in that area so be carefully. For that deep thing I would use some touch up paint and then buff it, but I am no auto body expert.

As the others have said, try scratch-x; however it probably won't work. Really, probably best to check if your insurnace will cover it under vandalism and have them repaint it. sorry dude.

What do you use to wash your car with? I had a similar issue several years ago when I picked up a small stone/debris in my wash mit..... Sure made a mess of my fender.. Didn't notice until I was drying the car..

Like others mentioned it does seem out of the ordinary for a "key" job given how low it is..

I would definitely attempt to buff what I could out before I decided on a paint repair.

Good luck

mine too, but....

luckily someone saw the guy doing it to my car along with a bimmer parked behind me and called some bouncers to nab the guy. fucker was put in cuffs and spent the night in the slammer! he got my rear right quarter panel. i'm hoping that the body shop will have to repaint the whole right side since some asshole hit my right rear passenger door in the parking lot and didn't bother leaving a note. frickin' haters.

regardless, i'm hoping that this juvenile's thoughtless doings will affect his car insurance premiums as well but not sure......but am definitely hoping.

keying cars.....this kid was like 18-19 years old. geezus, no wonder countries like china are gonna pass us up since it seems like the majority of teens here (not all) have all their priorities/values jacked up. wasting time with petty shit like this while younger generations in india and asia are busy working and scheming to take over the world.

Very true,,,, If only the US had similar punishments as India and Asia, our teens might think twice before being so ignorant.
My father always taught me to not only think before acting but also - to not do anything to anyone else/or their things that I wouldn't want done to myself or my things. This small idea works in all aspects of life...

It seems more and more families, schools, authorities, and parents have failed in their duties and cannot educate their children what could do and what should not do.

Unfortunately, penalties for vandalism a la Singapore Malaysia would be seen as 'cruel and unusual' punishment here in the US (with our 'perpetrator = victim' society). But if that were a legal sentence here, I guarantee that you'd see a dramatic reduction in vandalism and auto theft.

Sorry about your ride Vekro.

that sux, man. but hey, jus call ur insurance company and report the vandalism claim, i'm sure your deductible is less than the cost of repainting the door to original condition. (i work for an insurance company) good luck bro

I've used a company called Aerocolours in the past to fix two BMW's and a Porsche that were scratched for a whole host of stupid reasons. One got keyed. The others were my fault.

They have some computerized mixing system that makes a perfect match of the color. They do a great job with chips, and can work on scratches as long as it has not gone through to the metal. They come out to your location, and they finish in about an hour.

In every case where I got it done, it looked perfect, and after months of washing and waxing, I could not find the exact locations of the repair.
