My thoughts after two weeks
My thoughts after two weeks
I've had my TL for two weeks now so I thought I'd share my experience and thoughts.
I'm loving it...
Everytime I get out of the car and am walking away, I turn and just admire it from a distance. Definitely a beautiful car. And ABP is the the most awesome color!
I'm actually lucky to even have it now. It seems the dealers here in the Austin, TX area can't seem to keep them on the lot, the navis that is. When I first went looking (on a Sunday with no salesmen around) they had two ABP/Quartz with navi on the lot. Went back the next Sat to test drive and both are gone. In fact all navis were gone. Test drove a non-navi and the dealer happened to have a used '04 w/navi so we could see it. I loved it from the start, drove a TSX just to compare and definitely liked the TL better. Began dealing with a few dealerships in the area and got down to a decent price with the original dealer we test drove at. They of course didn't have what I wanted on the lot so they said they could get it. It happened to be at the other Acura dealership in town. We go sign all the papers and put down the deposit on a Thurs. They told us the car would be ready on Sat. We get a call Fri morning that the other dealership sold the one we were going to get. The sales manager vowed to get us one. He looked all over Texas and nothing. Everything was already sold and we had just missed their deadline for placing an order. So it could be 3 months he says. Needless to say I was crushed. Waiting until the end of July was going to be painful. Then a miracle happened and he calls on Monday and tells us there's one that they're for sure the deal was going to fall through on in Arlington and we could have it possibly by the end of the week. We then get a call on Wed saying that it's ready for pickup. What a turn of events!!
I've been in driving heaven since then. There's really not much I can compain about. I drove a '97 Accord and before that an '89 Civic previously so I was pretty used to Honda cars. It seems much bigger than the Accord to me so that was a little getting used to, but oh how nice it is to be able to get up the hills in Austin without having to floor the gas pedal.
The features are amazing. We've been impressing all our friends with the navi and bluetooth. For all the hype of the stereo, it really doesn't impress me, but then again it is a factory system. At some point in the future I will be replacing most of it. I wish they had cooled seats for us central Texans. I think there may be 2 or 3 days out of the year when I might consider using the heated seats. We did run across the strange vibration with the back windows open during one of our test drives, but it wasn't enough of a problem for me not to buy it. I can't remember the last time I rolled down the back windows, much less the front. This is Texas after all, I use the A/C in the "winter".
All in all I'm very impressed and hopefully it will continue to bring me joy for another 8 years until I buy another Honda car.

The pics that I have right now don't show the color really well since it was late in the evening when I took them. I'm hopefully going to get it washed and waxed this weekend and take some more in the bright sun. I'll post when I get those.

Sounds like they got the car from Vandergriff Acura, great dealership. I live in Dallas and I ordered both of my cars from them. I am looking for the same set up so take pelnty of pics. I think I will wait to see what the 06s have to offer before I buy.
Now all we need to do is get you out of longhorn country.
GO SOONERS!!!!!!!!!
I have an '04 Anthracite/Ebony/6MT/Nav and an '05 Satin Silver/Quartz/5AT/Nav. Love 'em both, but my favorite is my TL.. the '04 manual (the silver's my wife's). But I have to say, the quartz interior in the '05 is dynamite! I mean fantastic.
Between the Anthracite and the Blue.. both are nice, but go with the Anthracite.

And the stereo is awesome. I've made CDs from iTunes and they sounds as good as the original. I'm waiting to decide if XM is worth it. We'll see how much I miss it after the free period is over.
My car is so solid. No vibrations, not much wheel noise. Driving at 55 or 105, this car feels the same. And braking, even hard, is so smooth.
I just spent $300 on a radar detector because it's so hard not to have your speed creep up if you're not paying attention. So smooth.

Enjoy.

I got red x's for your photos. There is a thread from perhaps a month ago showing lots of ABP/Quartz including mine. Perhaps someone will provide a link.
Congratulations on your purchase, hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Kewl. I've been in the Austin area for about a year and a half now. Its so much better than Houston. With the exception of all of the speedtraps this ain't a bad place to live. Shoulda moved here alot sooner.....
While I think the Camel looks good with the ABP (nice contrast), I can't stand the fake wood. I remember when my parents had a 1988 Chrysler Grand Voyager minivan with wood grain "paneling" down the side and I think I got scarred by that.
