Unhappy My Ongoing Lemon Problems

I don't know where the other thread went that I started on my car problems, but I'll give an update for this week.

Last monday and tuesday the TL went in for the blinking and then staying on Check Engine yellow light. First trip they said it was a loose O2 sensor wire, fixed it and cleared the error.

The light came back on the very next morning on the way to work. that day it went back in, they gave some BS about they were going to replace the coil packs and plugs, my roomy sat around for 4 hours, they came back and said they didn't cuz they didn't have the parts and gave the car back after clearning the error but doing nothing.

Wednesday on the way to florida the light blinked several times but never stayed on, then didn't do it at all for several days.

This past tuesday it did it several times and finally stayed on. I phoned the dealer and made an appoint ment for this saturday telling them I wasn't going to waste any more of mine or my roomy's weekday time sitting on their shop since they weren't providing loaners which they were supposed to. They gave me some BS about they don't do major repairs on saturday, only oil changes and stuff, I said too f'ing bad, unless they want to pay me $240 for a missed day of work, they can do it Saturday. That went quick.

So I got off work normal time wednesday and decided to drop it off to them out of the niceness of my heart, phoned my roomy to meet me there and we dropped it off again. "We have the coil packs already in and it will be ready after lunch tomorrow (thursday)"

So, lunch goes by, nothing (surprise).

I call about 2 o'clock.. "They're just finishing it up and we'll give you a call when it's done".. ... ......

5 o'clock I call back "We called the tech line in california and found a problem with the car and have to get a part from california, of course we will do whatever priority shipping to get it here. The part is the Crank Angle Sensor. We replaced the coil packs, but the problem persisted and we are now replacing the C.A.S. (gee, my real initials) (replacing the driver?? "

So.. todays' status is it still sits in the shop waiting on this part to get overnighted.

I forget who was the other guy on here who also had the light blinking, but tell them to clear the error, hook the OBDII up in the car, take it or a ride and floor the snot out of it from a light or a real hard highway pass and it should generate the error while they watch, that's what they did on mine.

But, this is the 3rd visit, so if it comes back my next step in the Lemon process is I have to write a certified letter to Honda and they have one more chance to fix it in their shop, else they take it back.

Later.

It's not just the number of times int he shop to fix the same problem, but the number of days in the shop as well...and they have to be continuous days. Like my '02 TL-S was in the shop 23 consecutive awaiting it's first tranny. Then, when the replacement failed within a week after installation, I threatened a Lemon lawsuit (althoug I really didn't want ANOTHER Acura anyway!), and they bought it back from me.

Lemon Laws do vary from state to state, and I believe they are posted online for virtually every state, so look them up to get a clear understanding of what you may be up against...and, good luck!

Actually most lemon laws state one case or the other. 4 times for the same problem or 30 days of time in the shop, etc. Honestly at this point if he calls Acura and *****es long and loud enough they will likely swap the car to make him happy. I watched VW replace cars because the seats collected too much lint so actual engine issues should be easy to get them to replace it.

Acura won't do a damn thing .. this is the same way the tranny situation started with the CL/TLs 2 years ago. Acura continued to deny anything .. and basically told the owners that they abused the vehicle causing the tranny to fail. I heard it all, except the truth from anyone at acura (including their stupid 800 number). Acura will remain tight-lipped and they won't do crap for ya! Part of being in the acura family .. welcome
