My new 'fix' 08 TL-S

Hey guys, I've been poking around here for nearly a month now. I purchased an 08 CBP TL-S a few weeks back, and have just been enjoying it since.

Good:

One owner
Highway miles
excellent shape
serviced at acura
clean carfax (never an accident)
Color
Price

Bad:

Mileage

It's got 88K on it (had 86 when I bought it), but that's why I got it for the price I did. 17.9k

So far the only thing I've done is an iSimple and taken the front plate bracket off...along with multiple washes and a nice wax. I'm loving this thing. Quicker than I expected for the size of the car. I got an auto because this is my daily driver (hence the license plate), and i get stuck in traffic all the time.

Here's some of what I plan with the car:

-Jpipe
-3rd cat delete
-catback (maybe ATLP or XLR8 since I'm in CT)
-intake
-window tints
-coilovers (stuck between Tein SS and the HT Spec Function Forms)
-wheels (have the wheel specs in mind, but not decided on the wheel itself yet. probably either a Work or CCW).
-aspec kit
-stereo components (external amps, sig. processor, etc)

Other than that I just want to enjoy the car.

here's some crappy iphone pics after a few days of owning the car:

edit: don't know why my img tags weren't working. hopefully they work as links

thanks man, IMG tags are usually no issue for me- wonder if my firewall at work is catching something making it not work.

yeah man, it's in AWESOME shape. I picked it up at a local dealer- it was an auction car because of the mileage. there's one tiny ding on the roof, other than that it's pretty much flawless.

the previous owner was a salesman for a liquor distributor (judging by his address book in the navi), which explains the mileage.

only thing that sucks is 3 of the 4 wheels are curbed slightly BE MORE CAREFUL PARKING JERK!

this is true! it's by far the 'youngest' and least mileage car i've ever owned.

I've never had a car newer than a 98, with under 120k on it before.

I came from an EK civic that had 200k on it, so I shouldn't be worried about this one too much

Nice color choice. There are places that can touch up your wheels and make them look like new. I found a place that does them down here for $75 a pop and they really look like new. It might be something worth looking into...

i'm definitely considering it- I have a connection with a guy up here that can fix them too. I hate curbed wheels, it makes it look like I take poor care of my car

But, I may just let them be, and use these as winter wheels depending on when i purchase new wheels for the car.

why not do some maintenance work first, to make sure she keeps running strong for couple years to come. And then jump on the mods.

I would start by doing the 3x3 Redline Racing transmission Fluid. There is a long thread about it you should check out...

AW, nice pick-up. The Type S look great. Just keep an eye on it-like you said, it does have 88,000 miles on it. Enjoy it-don't not drive it. After all, it is a Honda-it will run forever!

i plan to change the trans fluid shortly, and probably the 3/4 pressure switches, for good measure. i skimmed through the big thread, are people recommending full racing atf, or a mix? i know redline makes good stuff

thanks guys! every time i drive it, i like it more! the previous owner definitely took care of it (save for the curbed wheels )

i plan on putting fresh brake fluid in it within the coming days (prob Motul DOT 5.1 since i've heard nothing but good things) and then after a bit more research on the trans fluid topic, I'll tackle that too.

nice I bought my 07 with that same amount of miles. great shape only wear on the driver's seat curious to see what your driver's seat looks like. Mine looks pretty bad compared to the passenger side which is mint.

My 04 only has 1000 miles more than your 08

But that's nothing to worry about. It sounds like the car has been taken care of properly so it should last quite a long time! Plus it's in great condition!

Congrats sir, I'm a huge fan of CBP

Congrats on the Type-S. Very clean. You may want to register her at www.myacura.com. Save the Navi and Radio codes there for safe keeping.

On top of the transmission fluid I know people are saying change the pressure switches on the trannies. These supposedly cause premature auto trans failure on 3g's.

some quick updates-

I bought/installed an iSimple for the car. very happy with it- works good on my iPhone 4 on iOS 4.2, charges it too. pain to install, but i wanted to do it as clean as possible.

bought/installed an AEM v2 intake on the car. hardest part was getting the factory intake/resonator off. love the way it sounds, and i'm sure there's zero performance increase. but it sounds mean.

bought/installed the KP window module this morning. very happy with the results, easy to install.

bought tein SS coilovers, I'm waiting till spring to put these on. they'll be bottomed out before they even go on the car

bought 9qts of redline type f atf to do a 3x3 flush- waiting until I can source the 3 pressure switches to do the swap. I can't seem to find a dealer online that actually has them in stock, I keep hearing they're on back order. any insight?

next up:

either an a-spec kit with tax return money, or putting in the stereo from my last car. unsure of what I want to do for a signal processor so I can hook up amps with the factory radio. been reading around a lot lately, can't seem to decide between a 3.sixty.2, MS8, or audio control matrix....leaning matrix because of the cost.

coming soon- stage 3 to the stock exhaust, possible jpipe/ 3rd cat delete.

window tints in the spring, waiting until it gets warmer so they dry quicker/adhere better.

car just rolled over 90k, problem free. the more i drive it, the more i love it.
