My idiot self got ripped off on the extended warranty by F&I guy. How to remedy?
overall, I still got a great price on my 04 nav, which i bought 3 weeks ago, but I paid retail for the extended warranty, meaning, instead of ~800, I paid 1300 for it. its the warranty that brings it to 9yr/100k
if i cancel it, it costs $100....but whatever, it hasnt kicked in yet, anyway
im thinking that I cancel it, eat the franklin, then buy it again from cross country or whomever for 8-900, out of principle.
make sense?
your thoughts?
tia

One dealer is just at good as another...whoever is the cheapest...check with the major ones on eBay - A of E, Curry, LV, etc., as well as DCH-Montclair (site sponser) and any others in your area.

oooh....maybe im wrong.
i paid 1300 for a 100k/year 2010 warranty, to be administered by cross country motor club
all of the hondacare sites/providers are selling it for more, and that warranty is administered by cross country too...
i guess maybe F&I guy wasnt lying to me when he said he was selling it for $100 over cost

Curry Acura sells OEM extended warranty on ebay and is a very good vendor for the price. I have another 1000 miles to decide if I want to get the extended warranty.
You bought your car used so how many miles does it have on it?
Why would it be a 2010 policy? shouldn't it be a 7 yr 100k?

yea, i saw the ones on ebay. they are more expensive than the one that i got, so maybe i did get a good price for it. i was under the assumption that i could get it for about $800, which is the case, with a new car with less than 6k miles. i paid 1300 for mine, which is at least 200-300 less than any other vendor that i have come across today.
my car is an 04 w/17k miles
when it comes to the year/miles, the policy that i got covers me to year 2010/100km which is 7/100k, like you said.

Oh ok. Well, I say cancel it and go shop around. How about emailing up the acurazine sponser DCH Montclair.
You can shop around at various dealers, call the business/finance manager and look around. I paid $1030 for a 6yr 100k (0 deductible) on my 05' RL - that is $50 above their cost. That is probably the best you will be able to find. If I am not mistaken Honda dealers can also sell the warranty to you.

Whatever you decide to do, read the fine print for the cancellation policy. Then do some research with your state's consumer protection policy. Most purchases of this nature are covered by state policy for 'buyer's remorse', which is typically 2 weeks or a month to change ur mind for a full refund. If you purchase a policy intended for future use, this is typically the case as many bad sales practices try to pressure sell warranties and service contracts (not just cars...). So most states have consumer protection laws regardless of what they say the cancellation fee is.

good point.
after doing all the digging, i see that im not gonna be able to beat the price that i bought it for. im not a fan of service contracts, but since I have an 04, its the first run of production, and i plan to drive this car into the 100k range, im sure that something electronic or something will break and i'll get $1300 worth of value for it.

The asterisk corresponding to the footnote stating Cross Country Motor Club only applies to Roadside Assistance, Concierge Emergency Service, Trip Interruption, and Trip Routing. The 100K/7yr warranty on drive train, etc is provided by Honda.
Is it different for Acura, or am I missing something?

I work at a DLR and no warrenty is as good as acuracare
U prob got a fedelity warrenty which has a $50 deductable for everything.
The only place u can get a acuracare warrenty is from a acura dlr a infinity dlr cant sell u a acuracare warrenty. WHt Company warrenty did u get none of the 3rd party warrenty's are nearly as good as the acuracare!
