Doubt the vehicle would be a total loss.
You're looking at 5k-10k worth of damages depending on your location and shop used. Insurance company should pay for most of it (minus deductible) and you should be fine.
I would move out the neighborhood if you can, because this is going to happen again and again (or find out who it is and report them).

....so i went over to the autoshop yesterday..or the day before( short term memory)....because they where giving me the run around for when my car would start getting painted...and finally they decided to tell me i was going to get the car "hopefully" by next week either Tuesday or Wednesday.

i would almost say it's the small ones, which make them busy, cause large ones, people just stay home and don't drive (and have sex, then 9 months later, there is a slight surge in babies being born 
)
where the with the small ones, people think the road is not icy and such, and then they find out it is when they try and stop
and yeah painting a whole car does take time..., especially to be done correctly
edit: OP how many days did the body shop tell you that they expected to take to finish the job (from when they got the car in their hands)(and as said before, remember it is business days, so probably only 5 days a week being opened)

but yes most rentals are the biggest piece of shits out there (except for the newer ones with like less then 500 miles on them lol)
and as far as being nervous, it was a major repaint, so not to be unexpected..., but POST pictures when you do get it back
(also try to pick the car up in the daylight, so any flaws in the paint, can be documented and such (things may still show up at a later date though, but any dirt and such in the paint can be fixed for you [even if it is at a later date])

so heres a little update, the shop calls and tells me that it was hard to work with the paint on my car * bulls&^t*
...
{why after almost 2 weeks they tell me this shyt today}..,
so after having the car in the shop and changing all the due dates of my car being done..
..they tell me " hopefully" i would get my car by the end of this week!

WDP is a pretty complicated multi layer paint job. Based off your comments, i have doubts about the capabilities of the shop you chose, but good luck.
and yes, clean out your goddamn garage. Thats pretty weak that you have a garage and this shit still happened. Hope the shit stored in there is worth more than the cost of this new paint job.

yea living in a house with 3 cars and 1 garage....its pretty hard to keep just mine, but it deff will stay there now, no exceptions.

also with the garage thing, you know how much better it is, just for the paint to not sit outside and bake in the sun...
or the interior (especially leather) to not bake and dry out
(garage kept vehicles are normally in better shape as far as interior and exterior surfaces, then a vehicle that bakes outside all the time; thus worth more normally when selling it)
also on those cold winter day, it's so not not having to go out and scrape the car off, before you can actually drive off
edit: even car port kept cars, are better too, again cause it does not bake everyday (depends on the sun it might a little, but nowhere close to being fully shined on
also covered parking, normally means no tree sap on the paint either, or leaves/twigs building up in the cowl area either

Dude...try 60+ days without your car. Be patient and courteous because you want these body shop guys on your side. Trust me.
When you get the car back inspect it for overspray on the windshield and windows. That's what happened on mine
I had to take it back in and have them scrape it off with a razor. Also read all my f ups in my thread HERE!

*and another little update on my car!
so once again i was supposed to get it last week but i couldn't because of the snow
...but yesterday( Monday) the shop calls my house and tells me there not done and the last piece of the car ...~ the bumper~ still needs to be done
....so today im supposed to get the car they said...a 95% chance, but its not looking good because of the weather!!!!!!!

brand new head lights, tail lights & side markers!..but they left the inside of my car like a trash can ..dust everywhere paint inside....and i still have to take pics of the door but tomorrow...the inside seemed as if they painted it then closed the door without letting it dry!!!!

looks like they did not even remove the window; and even if they did not, that is a shitty fucking paintline, with it chipping along the "line" already (ie: window should have been removed to ensure proper access to any needed areas
and considering even by your words, car looked like a trash can inside, i would understand it not being "perfect" but it should still at least be in better shape then when it went in (even if all they do is wipe it down with a damp rag to pick up all the dust)(not expecting shampooed carpets and all)

I would take the car back and have them redone, with time the paint on the rear window is going to start to peel and it will be so visible and ugly, you should definitely take care of it now, good luck with everything..
