Good grief, so I called back today, since it has been two weeks since they told me two weeks. They have the parts in, and it has been sent to the body shop. The guy didn't specify exactly when it all this happened, but it must have been recently because, ....
He said it probably will be ready by the end of the month! (IE another 2 weeks)

So did they tell you who's going to be paying for it?

They haven't brought it up yet, but I specifically told the guy if they weren't taking care of, call me before they fix it. So they will be hearing from my lawyer if they try to make me pay for it.

Well I got my baby back today. The work looks great, I'm happy with that. It's taking some adjusting, I actually got used to driving the rdx. The guy said it was a short in the headlight housing or something like that. I'll post some more pics when I get my camera back from my mom. BTW, warranty covered it all!

this almost happened to me in my 2001 CL-S with about 80,000 miles on it. it just never actually caught fire. my one headlight would flick on and off. i chalked it up to a bad bulb. i planned to upgrade the headlights to 2003 housings, so i bought new HIDs to go with them. well when i pulled everything apart, the ignitor harness to the HID was completely burnt up, i could smell it, electrical burning. the plug was brown/black. for some reason the plug never sat 100% on the bulb. i'll bet $100 that's where it originated. tell them my story, it makes sense. if that plug is not in perfect contact, you will get an extremely high voltage arcing. arcing = heat = fire. luckily i caught mine in time.
WOW, this could mean so much to me now! In the two years I owned my 97 3.0 CL (well I still own it, but I'm trying to sell it now that I've got my 07 TL), the passenger headlight would burn out every 4 - 5 months I'd say, if I could get that. It pissed me off, but not enough to pay out of pocket to fix it. I had NO idea something like this could happen!?!?!!

To the OP, glad to see you got your car back finally! That is crazy, as with almost everyone else on here, I've never heard of such a thing. And, I can't believe I've missed this thread over the past month or so!? But, at least I didn't have the anticipation of waiting like everyone else, haha. I got the problem and solution in 10 minutes

Got the camera back, will post up some pics tomorrow. On a side note, I had problems starting the car at the dealership, and then after I drove it 15 minutes or so, it didn't want to start again. Then today, it was totally dead. I took it to advance auto parts and got a new battery installed, everything is gravy now. Of course I have to call teh dealer and find out what the code is to get my radio back on. Should I try to hit them up for the battery cost as well? I am still under warranty, and it did die while they had it.

yep hit them up for the costs. Should be a matter of just taking them the receipt and them reimbursing you. Just had my batt in my 05 replaced. The service writer said they are covered for 3 years but the paperwork in the car says 4 year battery warranty. Either way it's covered.

Well, it's full replacement for the first 2 years and pro-rated after that. But since you didn't take it to the dealer and have already replaced the battery, not sure how they'll handle it.

yeah thats what had me worried, but this thing was shot, and I need my car. I would drive it like 20 minutes on the interstate, then stop and try to restart it, and it would have problems cranking. If I let it sit for 30 minutes or so it wouldn't start at all.

Okay so I looked at my paperwork again and the warranty is 2 yrs full replacement, then 3 yrs prorate on a replacement battery purchased from Acura. This is on page 35 of my 05 owners manual.

BUT on page 28, the warranty states: During the FIRST 4 YEARS, A DEFECTIVE BATTERY WILL BE REPLACED AT NO COST TO YOU. So your initial battery has full replacement with no mileage limit.

And as nfnsquared said, not sure how they'll handle the refund. I know several people have gotten full refunds from their dealer, and several have gotten 1/2 their money back from Acura Client Services. Search "replace battery" and you'll get a flood of info.

Looks like they did a nice job matching the paint - bumper to body etc..

I'm sure you are glad its back to normal and at little cost other than time to you etc..

Cheers
