mustang vs TL

What you guys think. A 2005 Mustang GT Auto vs 04 TL 6spd. Who will take who. Mustang got more power, but a stick is still a stick.

I just pulled away from a Mustang with a stick 6sp with me only having an intake from a light. It was funny because his gf was in the car and I had my friend at the time and it was classic. Track different story.

The mustangs lose out top end but if the driver knows how to drive he will get you out of the hole pretty dirty.

similar weight and 30HP difference in engine output not to mention a significant difference in torque = u will most likely get pwnt manual or not

300/320 vs 270(old so as it is consistant with the mustang)/238*

05+ run high 13's pretty easily, and with an auto he wont have to worry about messing us any shifts.

If it were a 99-04 you'd have a much better chance, unless the Mustang was modded.

What kind of track are you talking about? The drag strip for sure, but lol at an 05 mustang trying to get around a real track...the new ones are much better though

Mustang should take the win. You would do better from a roll.

I disagree. I ran a 5 speed one when I had an intake (I think) and it was neck and neck thru 1st and 2nd. We didn't get to go into 3rd because of traffic, but I was surprised. I think he would've creeped in 3rd, but it should be close if you're a good driver.

He beat an RSX-s by like 2-3 cars. Dont know how much quicker TL is than RSX.

Tl is quite a bit faster than an RSX-S. The manual one at least. Not so sure about the auto.

What year? Mines 2003 with 200hp 143tq, I would get my doors blown off by an 04 MT TL, hell even an auto could take me.

99 thru 04 are slow unless they have FI but the 05+ are pretty quick. Not fast but quick......

what mods does the rsx-s have?

I know that these 5spd auto stangs run high 13's easy with traps in the low 100's. Would love to see the TL pull it out but I have a feeling its going to be the stang.

Define "slow".

99-04 5 speed GT's run low 14's bone stock @ ~ 99mph. With bolt-ons and stickier tires mid/high 13's @ 101-103mph is pretty easy.

From a roll the TL-S may be able to hang, but dont think you can just go racing any 99-04 GT and walk them.

Do it from a roll and depending on how good you shift it will be close. I'm assuming he's stock lol??

I agree. The TL-S 6MT driver would have to be perfect in order to keep up if not barely beat a 99-04 GT 5spd stock. I have seen 14.1@99 all day long for a stock 99-04 GT. That is why I think that the 05 stang has the win due to it being faster than a 99-04 GT.

Slow as in a modded N/A 2v would have a hard time beating a stock LS1.. its like the LT1! They both "sound" good but drive like they are tied to a tree..

guys, it's possible for a 6MT TL to beat a 99-04 mustang GT, ive done it before.

now the 05 mustang GT is a different story, they are much quicker then the 6MT TL's and 99-04 mustang GT's

it is a great drivers race. both are capable of low 14's with traps in the 98-99MPH range but I have seen more GT's in the low 14's consistantly than the TL 6MT. From a roll the TL might pull out the victory!

true, the mustang GT's do run those numbers consistently. it's just easier to launch with RWD. every 99-04 GT i've encountered on the highway was a win for me and i was stock

99-04 had the better motors of that generation. The ones before it dont even bother...My friend had a 96 vert GT that thing sucked ass. My h22 powered accord would dust that thing. But we swapped in a 99 motor since his 96 developed some rod knock and it was definitely a difference.

It was an 02 RSX-S. A stock with an Intake i believe. Pretty good driver.

According to my knowledge the Manual 05 GT does 14.1 quarter mile. I assume an Auto is about 0.4 seconds slower. with a perfect execution, the TL might have a shot. But then again i'm not a perfect driver. Also how much fuel in the car also effects the outcome. With a full tank, the car weighs at least 100lbs more.

Most stock auto GT's from 99-04 run high 14's with traps in the low 90's. The 4AT gearing hurts it more than anything. You could only imagine what a 5AT would have done for that car. It would have hung right with the 5MT just like the 05+GT's 5AT vs 5MT.

If you see 05+ GT's running in the 14's then the driver is doing something wrong. They easily trap in the 101-103mph range, so 13's should be standard every time down.

The 05+ automatics do not have nearly the performance disadvntage of previous gens, as they are also 5 speeds and only lose about .2 and 2mph compared to the manual trans, sometimes less.

Also you cannot always compare street times vs a prepped track. Too many unknowns whether the road be shitty or lack of adhesion. But I hope this is done at a well prepped track not in the street.

I was playing cat and mouse with a 05+ GT a few months back and ended up putting busses on him... I have video of it but its hard to see what's going on other then him and I going faster then some other cars and then I come to an opening and fly past him... not a good video at all...

I hear the new GT's going to be somewhere in the ballpark of 425 horses - 5 Liter. The V6 on the other hand - 305 horses. To shame...

IIRC the 'Track Pack' 2010 Mustang GT pulled something like .95G and 60-0 in 108'.

The days of straight line only performance are gone.

What does the best 2010 Acura do in the 1/4, lateral grip, and braking?

Also, have you ever driven a Mustang, or any American V8 RWD car? Its easy to say it handles like crap if all you do is read about them and never drive one for yourself.
