multiple deposits

Hi,
I am new to this forum and I am thinking of ways to get a 2004 Navi TL at a reasonable price. Does the deposit you leave at the dealership have any strings attached? You are basically guaranteed to get it back, no matter what, right?
Am I allowed to leave deposits at two (or even more) separate dealerships (and have two TLs ordered)? This way I will have the upper hand in negotiations once the cars arrive and I won't have to wait another two months if I don't reach a good deal...

technically you can have multiple deposits but if you go through the forum for a thread a while back, one of the dealerships refuses to give back the deposit (but it was made on a debit card, so if u are going to put a deposit down, dont use debit card). anyways, the deposit is usually no strings attached, especially for the new TL because even if you end up not buying it, someone else will and you should get ur deposit back.

They can't legally keep your deposit. But, I recommend getting it in writing that the deposit is refundable.

ALWAYS USE A CREDIT CARD! If you have trouble with a dealer, giving them cash, they can tell you they have to send you a check in the mail and take weeks to get.
With a credit card, you can have the card company fight the dispute if there`s a problem
