To Much?

Is it to much to cover my car with a car cover when I park at work. I hate leaving my car in the sun all day and there are no shades in my parking lot. Do you think I'm being too anal?

Just a little. Get yourself a good sunsheild. That should help out with the internal heat.

You're asking people who spend 5+ hours detailing their cars, wash the inside of their wheels when they rotate their tires (some even when they wash the car), complain about a rattle that only shows up once in a blue moon, spend thousands of $'s customizing their cars, park in 2 parking spaces, park a mile from the door, etc. if you're being too anal for putting a car cover on at work?!?!?! Are you kidding?

In reality, it's probably not a bad idea if you don't mind physically taking it on and off everyday. If your car sits for 8 hours or more, it will probably help preserve the paint some. It will also keep the pollen and bird $hit off. Besides, who cares if we think you're anal as long as you're happy?

BTW, you're not anal...you just care

I would be wary of putting the cover on immediately upon arriving at work, however, because you should let the engine and especially the tailpipes cool off before you cover the car.

If it keeps it cool... ALso protects from BS. And I mean Bird, if you have a bull shit problem you should go get a pickup.

I covered mine for a few years until I moved to a building with covered parking. Folks thought I was anal but they quickly realized how much I loved my car. It helped in three ways:

1. Kept the car cool. (Texas summer heat is terrible).

2. We had some car thefts and I feel it kept those thieves away because they did not want to jack with the car cover.

3. We had close parking spots and it helped protect the car from door dings.

One word of caution: This was a few years ago but I let my car cover get wet and it shrunk. Acura replaced it but it was a pain in the A$$.

wouldn't you have to keep the car absolutely clean to put a cover on it everyday? i mean, i'd be worried about the dirt on the car scratching the paint as you put on the cover. get some good tints and a windshield sunshade, and leave the sunroof tilted. and just push and hold the unlock button as you approach the car!

I don't think its too much at all. After all you you spent your hard earned money on the car. only thing about a car cover in public though is it is almost a given that some a**hole will try even harder to mess it up.

But like the previous guy said, make sure the cover is clean before you put it on. trapped dirt can mess your finish up before you can say "you son of a *****"!

I would do it, but at work I park in a garage. I am going to cover my car when I leave it at the Airport in the garage, keep eyes away, and all the stuff for sitting on it for days.

I would agree. I do not know if I would want to put a cover over a car that is not perfectly clean. Then, the cover catches the dirt on the inside and you put it over again. Plus more chances to scratch the car with the dirt trapped and putting it on and taking it off. My

Go buy a bunch of trees and plant them around your parking space. I too woudl be worried putting a cover on an unclean car.

In my opinion, that is a little two much. I cover mine at night, but that still means fussing with the cover too times a day and at times that gets two be to much for me to.

Can't help you there, but my brother bought one from Griot's Garage for his 1974 Beetle and has been very satisfied with it, to the point where I just bought one of their covers for my RX-7 (the TL gets parked in the garage). Takes three weeks from the time you order because they make it to fit the car. Mine came yesterday and it fits perfectly.
