I have a new knob and all the post just say turn it to loosen. but i notice it has 2 plastic pieces at the bottom i assume hold up the boot?

My question is do i really just turn it I really do not want to break old knob incase the new knob sucks or doesn't fit correctly

 

If you put your hand around the silver ring that connects the boot to the knob, you can pull that down and then just turn it to loosen the knob.

LOL uh yes just hold the silver plastic that is connected to the boot from turning and turn the knob.
