Freeway driving from Murrieta to San Diego last weekend. I was averaging 35mpg for a good distance from SD to Murrieta but a vehicle fire ruined that 3/4 of the way there.

I finally got around to writing the info down from my 2008 TL Auto.

AVG MPG: 25
AVG MPH: 29
Distance: 5943
Time: 196:02
6MT/5AT: 5AT
3.5/3.2: 3.2

I am close to 50/50 highway/city. I check the mileage at every fill up using the calculator in the Nav system (nice feature) and have been getting around 23-24 mpg lately.

I've kept records since new ('06 6MT), and there's a pretty strong correlation for me between MPG and avg. MPH on my typical "suburb" commute.

23 mph= 21mpg
24 mph= 22mpg
26 mph= 23mpg
28 mph= 24mpg
30 mph= 25mpg

Also, I'm wondering if some of the MT folks are "gear holders" or "down shifters." I upshift around 2500-2700 rpm under normal driving, cruise around 1700-2000rpm whenever possible. This time of year when the temps are in between heat and AC, I usually gain about 1 mpg on average.

My wife, on the other hand, is a "gear holder." She'll ride in 3rd to 3500, just letting the tach hang there if she's not speeding up. She gets 1-2mpg lower than me under similar MPH averages.

Take a look at my post from a while back. Some interesting data on MPG vs. MPH that I had collected:

Very similar numbers to above except at the really high speeds. (I wonder if that could be due to wind differences between my environment and the original poster's environment.) I had also noted the RPMs. Here were mine:

45mph (1500rpm) = 31mpg
50mph (1500rpm) = 36mpg
55mph (1550rpm) = 36mpg
60mph (1700rpm) = 36mpg
65mph (1800rpm) = 35mpg
70mph (2000rpm) = 33mpg
75mph (2150rpm) = 31mpg
80mph (2275rpm) = 28mpg
85mph (2400rpm) = 25mpg
90mph (2550rpm) = 23mpg
95mph (2700rpm) = 21mpg
100mph (2850rpm) = 18mpg
105mph (3000rpm) = 16mpg

and here is some info another member had posted:

Cruise control at various speed, drive for about 5 miles to let the MID settle

6MT, at 6th gear

55MPH = 38MPG
65MPH = 34MPG
75MPH = 31MPG
85MPH = 27MPG
95MPH = 24MPG
105MPH = 21MPG

It was a bit difficult to keep the speed at 105 for 5 miles, kept coming up to other slow cars.

So for the rest of the way, I set the cruise control at 80MPH, and after 300 miles, it indicated 29MPG.

Going 55MPH would have been great for my wallet, but I would absolutely go crazy driving 4 hours at 55MPH. Come to think of it, if someone has the patience to drive 55MPH for the entire trip, you can get over 600 miles to a tank!

Every time I cruise to a red light, I have a habit of shifting into neutral and coming to a stop out of gear. I guess I've been burning gas unnecessarily.

07 Type-S 6mt. If it's all lead footed city driving I get around 13. My last trip from Rexburg, ID to Salt Lake City, UT (about 250 miles with mountains) I got 27 on the tank going down with about 15 miles of city driving before I left. I got 29 coming back with about ten miles of city driving. The highway stuff was doing 15 over the limit, about a third of it at 80mph, the rest at 90mph. I was VERY pleased with my mileage at those speeds. I'm looking forward to my drive home to Wisconsin to visit family next month. I'm hoping I'll crack 30mpg!

AVG MPG: 30
AVG MPH: 42
Distance: 1290
Time: 31:17
6MT/5AT: 6MT
3.5/3.2: 3.2

Just reset my MID because I replaced my battery. Recorded the info before reset. Daily driver, about 50/50 highway/city to work. Most of the highways are state highways, not freeways so it's about 60-65MPH cruising which is sort of the sweet spot.

29-30 mpg consistently, 90% highway or at speeds above 40mph.

My mpg varies greatly with the traffic conditions, but on the highway I can get 30mpg and ~20 in the city, averaging ~22 mixed. The highway driving is at 70-75, but i've started driving at 65 and now get 33mpg and that's with my summer tires which are super sticky and drop about 2-3mpg compared to my winter tires.

Is the free one good enough or did you pay 5 bucks for the full version?

Notice the number of miles driven.

This was a 450 mile road trip, a 250 mile road trip and the rest was driving around the Chicago area which means a good percentage of this is highway driving, but there is some city driving mixed in.
