MoleSkin Mod for Tinted Windows

Hey All,

Just wondering if there is an instruction thread with pictures for the Moleskin Mod for Tinted Windows.

I found one but the pictures are not working for some reason.

Thanks

Welcome to the board (again).

Your question is answered in the 3G Garage, located at the top of the forum page as a sticky. You may want to spend some time going through it. Here's an example of a moleskin thread (one of three linked in the Garage)

Hope this helps! Happy Easter.

Hi NeuronBob,

Thank you so much for all your help.

I did go through that entire post earlier and was not able to find any pictures guiding me through the mod.

I am sort of a visual guy and I was hoping to see some pics.

Thanks anyways !

I finally looked at the thread and noted all the pix were gone! My bad. You could PM rets, who posted those pix, to see if he has them on his computer somewhere. Or he'll take mercy on you and post 'em here for you.

I have also been looking for some pics, but I have found that all the threads that refer to pics no longer have any pictures. I would also appreciate anyone who could supply some pictures.

I would also like to know the general setps people take to do the moleskin before tint.

1.) Do you remove door panels and pull wipers and leave them out until after tint.
2.) If so, how long do you wait before putting wipers back in? 3 - 5 days when tint film has dried?
3.) Do you need to pull panels again to put wipers back on. (I seem to remember reading in a thread that you can do this by just rolling down the windows)

I have ready about 20 threads about this, but I seem to be getting only small pieces of the process.

Thanks in advance - everyone in this forum is really helpful.

There used to be a thread with pictures of the wiper and where to place the moleskin - whether it was on the lower blade, upper blade or both. I believe the consensus was both and I think their was a poll regarding this. The moleskin should be an inch wide and to cover both blades required half inch wide strips. Prepare the wiper by cleaning it with alcohol before installing the moleskin. The best bet is to remove the door panel and let the tint cure (4-5 days). Then reinstall the wiper. I personally would remove the door panel to reinstall the wiper. There was another post saying you could "peel or roll back" the top part of the panel and slide the wiper back in. Some folks did this and the result was a noticeable crease in the panel or something to that effect. A short cut of that nature might just lead into problems.
