Moleskin - Cleaning Tint
Moleskin - Cleaning Tint
Had installed the moleskin on my 05 TL about a week ago, and got Pinnacle 15% tint installed on the car yesterday at Formula One of Venice. I'd definitely recommend this shop. Top quality job, very clean, comfortable waiting area with TV, digitally cut tint, etc.
In any case, In order to get some of the bubbles out of the tint near the bottom of the window, the tinter had to push them out with the little credit card sized deal they use. He was having a hard time getting 2 of these out due to the moleskin holding the tint so tightly. The bubbles just kept re-appearing. To get them out he had to use this credit card sized thing to push the moleskin down a little bit to let the moisture escape from behind the tint. This worked fine. Tint now looks great.
I feared when I rolled down the windows now, though, that the glue from the moleskin would get all caught up on the tint. Guess what? It did! It didn't scratch the tint at all, and comes off OK, but it is a very tedious process as it is very sticky. This only happened on 2 of the windows. I am going to order a new moleskin kit so I can redo these 2 windows.
Can anyone tell me what chemical would be safe to use on the tint that would dillute this sticky crap, and yet not hurt the tint? I definitely don't want to take Windex or anything of the sort to it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Decided it may be a good idea to read the warranty pamphlet I got from the Formula One dealer. It says to use soap & water on a very soft cloth. Used this and the glue came right off.
Also removed the moleskin from the 2 affected windows, which came off very easily.

I think the general rule is to stay away from products with ammonia. I use Stoners Invisible Glass but there are many other products found at your local auto parts store.
