Is it really necessary to have the moleskin? Anyone has his car tinted without moleskin and no scratching problem? What brand? 3M, Formula 1 or etc? Any good tint shop in Austin, TX?
Many thanks!

Search does wonders. There are many threads on this. Basically it comes down to whether you want to risk the scratches or not. I just had mine tinted, and as soon as I asked about moleskin, he pulled a roll out of the drawer and definitely recommended using it. He stated that he couldn't under stand why acura/honda stopped putting the felt on the window blade.
You are going to get opinions both ways on here although I think the majority will probably say to go with the moleskin.
However there is one thing that everyone will agree on. You can get scratches going either way if you don't keep the interior of the windows clean.

I would recommend you get the moleskin, for the extra few bucks it protects your investment. I got 35% formula one tint without moleskin but quickly realized it was beginning to scratch so i had to install the moleskin myself after ordering it online. Bottomline it was just more hassel for me and i couldnt roll down my windows for a few days while waiting for the moleskin to come to prevent further scratching.
