So i have a 2007 tl type s and i took out the middle muffler and replaced the stock resonator with an aftermarket one. About 4 months after this i threw a p0420 code. Now i believe that is the third cat which if im correct means it is plugged or something similar.

If i was to take this under under warranty would they repair it with my warranty or say no because i removed the mid muffler??

Just want to know before i go in and make them aware

 

P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

The 3rd cat has no sensors or anything and should NOT effect the 1st cat in bank one which you are getting the code for. Take it to acura and you won't have a problem.

 

Probably an O2 sensor on the Bank1 primary cat.

 

Agreed... It is up front, so if they try to give you any BS about the third muffler being gone, tell them they are stupid... lol

And if they try to blame it on the resonator being aftermarket tell them to prove it to you.
