Mirror got knocked off while parked.. have a question.

Mirror got knocked off while parked.. have a question.
Sitting inside my car waiting for my G/F to get out so we can watch a movie, this dude comes out of no where, flying past me and knocks my mirror off. I was lucky in a sense of no other damage to my car and the mirror is still in working condition with NO MARKS. It however has come loose off it's base. My question is while looking at it, what holds it to the base? Meaning the mirror housing is connected to his plastic tube which allows it to swing but what in that holds the mirror to it? It doesn't seem like anything really broke just the mirror is loose and doesn't stay on the base.

its a really easy swap also, don't have to remove the door panel for it... couple screws and a harness
here is one you could rock with (guessing it was the passenger side)

I am picking up a passenger side mirror from infamuslink. I need 07+ mirrors. Thanks guys For now I should just RTV the mirror to that shaft as a temp fix instead of green painters tape.
