Minor update on my Lemon issues

Met with a regional rep today at the local dealer. I was under the assumption that it was for a test drive so he could feel the vibration, at least that's what the guy at ACS told me, but this guy today was not made aware of this meeting, but happily and merrily took the time to hear me.

By the time I got done explaining all of my issues, he didn't feel the need to drive the car, he admitted the car has enough issues.

I didn't have all of my service receipts in the car, I thought I did. So I have to fax him the rest of all my service visits and I think the fun will begin. He did sound sympathetic to the problems and that Acura wants to resolve it.

I told him that I am truly am a Honda engineering fan and I would love to keep a TL, just not this lemon flavored one. I told him a very acceptible solution is just to put me in a new one. I don't want to be done with Acura, I just want to be done with THIS one.

He took all this down, is waiting for me to send the rest of my paperwork, and we'll know from here.

He sounded very agreeable and anxious to remedy the situation. I hope it wasn't just all saving face and telling the customer "what he wants to hear"

They are saving face so far very nicely I'm glad my courses and books in patience are paying off.

It seems Max is going to depart from your garage soon. But it's great news for you. Are you willing to get 05TL instead?

BTW, what does this mean? "Removed O2 sensors to increase greenhouse gases to help keep me and my environment warm" I definitely missed this story. Just kidding...

rets: the "removed 02" sensors was my version of sarcasm cuz two of them have failed so far and it was my joke to help the car make more emissions. I've been throwing a lot of "grains of salt" with this car..

I wouldn't mind an 05.

Help me think of this, if it takes a few more weeks to process this, and we kinda know the ABP/5AT/Navi is rare just due to the color, wouldn't you think it will be an 05 due to end of 04 production ??

Or even worse, what about the rumors that ABP is getting discuntinued ?? Should I worry ??

This guy Mike Wooden was very nice and seemingly concerned for my wellbeing in a faulty Acura, I hope he comes through.

And now the leather is popping out of my front passenger door.

The perforated leather section is coming out of the Carbon-Fiber panel above it, about a 2 inch section.

Looks like there's 1 or 2 mm of leather that they are tucking under that panel versus a half inch or so and properly securing it in somewhere.

Maybe I shouldn't have put my car in the dryer, it's parts are shrinking.

The best scenario is he allows you to keep your going-to-be Lemon until Acura delivers you the new car. Since Acura plant will continue to build the better quality 05TL with the same production lines, hope early build 05TL is as good as late build 04TL and you could get the first 05TL in Sep or Oct. But, if ABP is your favorite and removed out of 05's list, they may come out with new Blue for you...

Driving to work today, the engine malfunction light came on, and the manual says it indicates an emissions problem. Is this possibly the "02" sensor that is causing this?

Most likely you didn't screw the gas cap back on tight enough. I've done this, and got the same warning light on my '02 TL Type-S. Unfortunately the only way to know for sure is let the service guys and their computers take a look.

engine MIL light can come on for a variety of reasons (it flashes when you sustain >5000 RPM).

i'd swing by the dealer to be sure.

Sherlock, I had this problem on delivery, and pushed it back in myself, a few months later, it started to happen again, this time a longer length came out. Must have been a die cutting error on early builds.

Next my lower dash poped out on a bump on the drivers side (mirror control area).

It is an easy fix to replace though, and hopefully, your car gets replaced.

the MIL could be a ton of things as was said. IF it's the gas cap, you can fix that but it takes another tankful and a refill.

It could be the O2 sensors going foul, I've had 2 go already.

It could be the Crank Position Sensor issue I had early on.

It could be the over-sensitive (I still think that explanation is B.S.) sensor that is reading the Crank Position Sensor.

It could be a fouled injector, or coil pack, or spark plug.

Any or all of these have occurred to 04TL owners so yeah, take it in, they can read the codes.

But 99% of all of it means that the emissions system is picking something up that is putting it outside of it's ULEV-2 status and it's trying to tell you about it.

Anyone see the status of the 04 Accord 4-cyl ?? PZEV, Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle.. in a dang combustion engine.. now THAT is engineering and computer control over that DOHC 2.4 Litre.. dayumn

Rets, and yes.. blue is my favorite.. I wanted my 98 Accord in blue, didn't come out in blue till 99. I wanted Sherlock in blue, but they couldn't find one. I told them this time the check remains in my hand till a blue one shows up on their doorstep and they found one the next day.

If I get delayed into the 05's and the 05's dont have blue, I'll cry, but I'd rather take a car that I can drive as an "afterthought" meaning I don't have to watch the guages the entire time I'm in it for fear it's going to break again, than to have the perfect color. To me, while the car is fun to drive, I'd also like it to be a no brainer, get in, start, go, day in, day out, until it's time for regular service. That has not been the case on this one. But we all know that.

I am trying to guage the other colors to see what I'd like next if blue is nixed.
I loved the FirePepper on the 03's but I don't know that I like the RR on the 04.
Nix on White, silver, or black.
That leaves gold, green, or anthracite.
I liked the gold on the 03, but not the 04 for some reason.
Green, not a green fan, tho that is one of the best looking kinda-greens I've seen.
That pretty much leaves Anthracite, which I do love so I guess that's my option.

Or tell them to strip it and paint it upon delivery.. (riiiiight)
