Milking Warranty?

Brought my Car to DCH today to figure out exactly what this noise was.

Was in an accident and body shop thought it possibly was a steering rack replaced that and wow what a difference however noise was still there.

Service called me today and said the pump went bad theres a crack in it and its leaking everywhere, over the "belt" and all.

Need a new pump, belt, reservoir, and 2 hoses.

He said then while looking over the car he sees engine mounts are bad, front and side... If this were true wouldn't I feel a vibration when accelerating? wouldn't that happen if they were bad?

Needless to say its a $1300 job, i have to lay out $102 for hardware and the belt which the warranty does NOT cover so its pretty good deal i guess.

Still confused on engine mounts any input on signs? he said if they all go at one time ill be in for a rude awakening. my luck..

If they're going to do all that work for $102 out of pocket, I say do it. Motor mounts can go bad after a while (how much mileage do you have on the car?). Drive on and don't worry about it (for quite a while).

It's a 2004 with 64000 miles on it which I think is pretty low!

I just thought I would feel a difference if the engine mounts were cracked a friend in high school ha a new maxima and the mounts were cracked the car felt like it was going to fall apart!

My warranty is pretty awesome they didn't have to go and verify the problem they just "okayed" it and authorities them to do whatever. Idk anymore with this car what else should I expect in the near future with it?

Honestly, not much bad. My brother now owns my previous 00 TL which was determined to have bad motor mounts. He really couldn't tell, but he always asks for his old parts back after a repair (for inspection) and told me they were in fact shot, even though he couldn't notice it.

Your car should last a long time with good care. I agree 64,000 miles is low for an 04.

I know it's all over this forums but I am petrified of the time belt and water pump business I had a bad experience in my a4 a few years back breaking down on a major highway the belt just tore apart! When does a tl need one? Is there a way for them to see it to replace it or it just goes and that's it? Cause they clearly noticed the motor mounts.

Does the MID notify you when the Timing belt needs replaced for age rather than mileage? My 05 should be due this year even though I only have 65k miles on it, and I don't want to forget.

So I'm about 7 years how do I go about this? I'm sure there not going to cover it if it's not broken...

I don't think so. Mine's an 04 with 85k so it should be due because of the age but there hasn't been a notification yet.

I doubt they'll cover it under warranty. It's more of a maintenance item.

edit: it would still be worth asking though!
