Unhappy Milage ... Whats average

I got my TL April of 08 ( and I love it )

As of today I have about 9500 miles ... which means I'm looking at about 12000 for the year. Is this average?

Whats sad is I take the bus downtown so I drive maybe 8 miles a day for work! I do take weekend trips to near by cities so i guess thats where I make up the miles.

I get about 27 mpg high when driving between cities ... close to 30 mpg if i dont speed, but I have a TL so its hard not to.

let me know guys. thanks

I've always been told 15k per year was average. So going by that you are below average. I average around 21k a year.. I drive about 60 miles a day to and from work. get around 23-25 MPG mixed city and highway and 30-32 MPG straight highway @ 75 MPH.

in close to 5 years i've chalked up 29k miles ROFL; however your MPG is sooooo dependent on how you drive it's not funny;

before, i would get 9-12 MPG MAYBE 15? then after I got my ticket that almost landed me in jail, i miraculously pulled up to 22MPG lol

12k is the low end of average, but it seems like a lot of people on here drive their TL's a lot more than average! (30k+++)

Something like 12,000 to 15,000 miles per year is the national average (per car? or per driver?).

Since Jan 2002, I have put on our vehicles (i.e not counting rental, etc) ~352,000 miles (that is over 5 cars and 2 drivers).

~50,300 miles per year on average (36k work car; 14k personal car)

or

~25,000 miles per driver per year on average (actually more like 40k and 10k).

i put about 20k/yr on my 04 since ive gotten it... but i drive a lot out of town, so majority of my miles are hway.. but when im in the city i get about 23-25 mpg but on the hway im no lower than 28/29-30/31 ive never seen mpg anywhere in the teens.

u must just be letting the car idle and then going around the block or something.

but you're way under the average at 12k for the yr... be careful though because there are insurance companies out there that will drop you for not driving ENOUGH, belive it or not.

I get on average 12-13L/100km, so with some maths its around 19.6MPG but here in Vancouver, it is start/stop traffic EVERYWHERE

It really depends on where you live, and where you work!! If you live out in the woods (i.e. Bumfuck Eygpt) you have to drive farther to get everyday things (food,bank,mall,gas,etc....) But on the other hand if you live in bumfuck your not putting alot of city miles on the car (stop and go). But if you live in the city you probally dont have to drive as far to get to work or for everyday things. Your probally not putting as many miles on the car. But your putting alot of premature wear on the car. So you could put 30,000 miles a year on the car and its all highway miles. Or put 12,000 miles on it and its all stop light to stop light miles. Id rather take the 30,000 highway miles if im keeping the car............

Everyone has a diff. route, so hard to put a number for ave. but normally 12k - 15k a year seems normal. Your MPG is pretty good ...

Agree with you about the average miles per year. But, what in the hizzell are you talking about in the next sentence? That makes absolutely no sense! When's the last time that your insurance company asked you how many miles you drove the previous year??

I've always been told that 15K miles per year was average.

Bum Fuck Egypt = BFE = Middle of nowhere.

It's a good place to bed in your brakes, test emergency stops, etc.

Most of you need to drive less. You are causing irreparable damage to the earth. I only make about 5000-6000 miles a year.

I usually refer to Timbuktu rather than BFE.

06 TL bought Halloween 06. It's almost 2 and 1/4 yrs with 27,000 on the clock.

I only average 18 MPG because I warm my car up every morning and night.
