Microfiber Towels
Question:
I purchased the Zaino kit and plan on using it Memorial Day weekend. Do I need to consider Microfiber towels?
There is a website that provides them.. Microfiber Auto or something like that.
Thanks

I don't think you need them, I have not used them with Zaino. The Zaino site says you need 100% made in the U.S.A. cotton towels (the good ones like from Macys) with the tags cut off. I think the Zaino people even recommend a couple of specific brands. I do use microfiber, but usually just for the weekly washes and for windows. FYI, Costco always has them at a great price, just make sure to always wash them before use because they leave a lot of lint behind.
I concur with VTEC, 100% quality cotton towels is all you need for taking off the Zaino (which comes off with little effort, btw)....I picked my towels up at Bed, Bath & Beyond and they were something like $12-15 per towel. Small expense in my mind for keeping my car's finish as good as new.
i have purchased from autofiber.com and the towels are good. here is another site i goto for detailing products. autopia-carcare.com. if you are looking for towels to dry the car get the waffle weave ones, they suck up water like crazy. the buffing and detailng towels are not as absorbent. also watch out for the tags when you use them, they will cause swirl marks on the paint. i remove the tags by unstitching them, if you choose to cut them off there is still the possibility that it can cause swirl marks. if you find towels without these tags it would be better. kmart and target also carry microfiber towels and you should check them out. becareful when you go to those shops because the quality of the towels vary from manufacturer. check to see if they print polyester/polyamide content. it should be 75/25 or 80/20 for most manufacturers.
Once you go with a Microfiber towel and a waffle weave (to dry) you will never go back to cotton. The key is also to have clean towels for the same $12-$15 that buys one 100% cotton towel you can get 3 MF towels.
Autofiber.com is excellant as is Pakshak.com
Check Detailcity.com or Autopis.com to find out the skinny on detailing

I use the yellow microfiber towels from Costco - and they work well when washing and drying. I'm just afraid of how much scratching they'll do when they get older - I've already experienced some scratches with them when I used the dry towels on the car.
