Metallic Sound from Steering Column
Has anyone experienced this? When turning, I hear a feint metallic sound coming from the steering column, kind of like a coin sliding across a metal surface. More so on hard turns. I thought it was my key fob hitting the column at first, but that's not it. Also, even without the keys in the ignition, a knock against the steering wheel generates a metallic sound from the column.
Is this normal? If not, any idea on fixes?

Mmmmmm... Anthracite
May want to check your brakes.
My girlfriend complained to me that she heard a metallic scraping sound, mostly while parking. She said it sounded like a metal on metal. So I checked under the car, nothing dragging, I play with the steering wheel no noise, I rev the engine no noise. Sure enough I drive around the parking lot and I hear this grinding sound.
Turns out the brake pads were worn all the way down in one spot and the rotor was touching the bare metal pad backing. Wore a small groove in the rotors, but all she needed were new pads.
I could not tell from your post whether you hear the sound when the car is sitting still, but your brakes would be worth checking

I hear it when driving - only in turns. Don't know that I would call it grinding, its quieter than that. Plus, the car only has 700 miles on it, so I'd be surprised if the brake pads are worn down already.
