Metal Floor Mats

Hi everyone,

I was just curious if anyone has owned a set of metal floor mats like the ones at the following website:

https://diamond-mats.myshopify.com/p...-passenger-set

In my opinion, they look nice from the pictures, but I was just wondering if anyone can provide insight as to the quality of the product and/or your opinions on if they're worth it.

PS - I understand there is currently a set for sale in the Black Market.

Can't help with quality but will offer opinion about the idea of using metal for mats. In the summer I use the OEM carpet mats. In the winter I replace them with the OEM winter (hard rubber) mats. The difference in internal noise is noticeable. The rubber mats reflect sound far more than the carpet ones. Every spring when I swap the carpet back in I notice the reduction in noise. So I'd have to think that metal will be even worse since. It's harder than the hard rubber and will probably "ring" more as well. But I like a quiet car so this all may not matter to you.

Why buy metal floor mats? Just rip off the carpet from inside your car. Boom Metal floors, for free.

You're welcome!

Interesting comparison. I have had the winter rubber mats in my car since the first month or two that I have had the car. I may have to go swap them out with the carpet mats now just to see if there is a noticeable difference in my car. I have two sets of OEM carpet mats sitting on the shelf in my car. I bought it CPO so there was a brand new set in the car and the original used set were in the trunk.

Smart ass lol...

Interesting comparison indeed. I always use my OEM mats during the nicer summer months and swap them out with rubber ones during the winter as well. I have not noticed any difference in sound quality though. Maybe I just never noticed the difference before?

Also, I wonder if the metal mats will be prone to rusting? Obviously, it all depends on what type of metal and/or coating is used during the construction.

My views of the metal mats:

Why
-- probably because you want too...which is just fine...it is your car

Purpose/Function
-- They won't absorb nor hold any liquid or dirt
-- They will probably be slick as snot when wet

Longevity
-- Site says they are aluminum so not rust
-- Unknown how well the color will hold up and look over time

To me...this is more form over function which isn't how I prefer things. It is your car so do what you want. There are much worse things I could see someone buying for their TL than these for sure.

Just FYI - I actually decided to purchase these mats. I'm anxious to see how they turn out as I'm currently waiting for them to be shipped. I may add a very small raised rubber strip along the perimeter of the mats to keep any potential water from spilling over. We'll see how tacky that looks once the mats are received. I'll be sure to post pictures.

They might send some nasty shrapnel around the cabin in a bad accident.

I'd more worry about you slipping/eating shit anytime you tried to get in or out of the car with your shoes slightly wet

Yup, and I acknowledge that. I do understand the bigger concerns about form over function. I'm just trying to stray away from preemptive negative commentary before anyone (including myself) has even received or tested this product. I have no problem admitting they suck if I truly think they're a shitty product. I don't see any benefit in being dishonest with my review.

Like I said, I will be sure to post pictures and let you all know what i think once the mats are received.

I apologize for the delay. I recently got married, went on the honeymoon, have been busy getting the house ready, yada yada yada... you get the idea. Here are a few pictures of the installed metal floor mats. Overall, the quality is pretty solid. Some of the bends in the metal aren't perfect, but they're working pretty well for summer mats. In the meantime, I am keeping my OEM carpet mats safely tucked away in the garage. Last night was my first experience with the rain and the mats. Because the mats are diamond-plated metal, there were zero issues with slipping at all. There were just a few splotches of water from my shoes, but once I got home, I took a towel and wiped it off. Problem solved... not much different than the issues I've had with my rubber mats.

Since most components of my car follow the black/chrome look now, I'm pretty happy with how they look with the theme I've established. I've received quite a few compliments on them already. My buddy told me that I really need to get the metal pedals now to match. So... if anyone has a decent pair, feel free to PM me. I would love to purchase the ones with the "Acura" lettering. I know that they have not been made for quite some time now. I've been searching for months with no luck lol.

I went straight for the photos. I imagine they make some echo noises in there, because I've got experience in freight elevators.
