No, Ravi- Not lowered. The only appearance mod I have made is to paint the brake calipers gold- which you can't really see in the posted photo. They already are a pale gold but I painted them a bright gold.

Perhaps the brick road makes it look lowered?

My dealer recommended a tint place. (i'm in Atlanta). The only warning is to avoid tint with metal in it (metallic). It interfears with the radio antenna in the back window. I've had no trouble with my tint, and my brother and sister both have 2004 TLs with tint and no problems. Most reputable tint places offer lifetime warranties.

Window Tinting Help

i have a good place to get my TL tinted at 35% for $225 w/ 5yr warranty, but they don't know what moleskin is used for so i need to get it myself.

anyone know of online place? can it be obtained from a fabric store? can a felt fabric be used?

i would also like to know what types of glue is being used. i recently replaced a drum felt on my dryer, can with this bad-ass dark brown glue. bonded the felt to the metal drum and is permanent, will not slip, and will not be affected by the heat or rotational forces (the drum weights rides on the felt at the bottom half of the drum), or is a contact cement being used??

thanks for any info...

I've used felt on the window wiper. I think it comes as a role with the glue on the backside. There is a guy on this forum who sells moleskin kit. Search for the moleskin.

Try finding moleskin on eBay.

Tints and important stuff...

Here is a good thread that will tell you all you want to know about window tinting.

http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showt...851#post809851

Our TL's need to have felt/moleskin added to a lower wiper inside the door panel.

Our Owner's Manual (Navi p.3) says NOT to put metallic tint on the back window or it will interfere with the GPS antenna which is under the package shelf.

All the details are in that thread. Been there; done that; got the T-Shirt!

Cheers!

I still want to see an explanation on how putting (metal) tinting UNDER the FM antenna will affect radio reception ?? Think about it.. tint goes on the inside of the window.. and the antenna is thus above that on the underside of the glass.

Sure it could make a "dish"-like platform to gather/reflect more signal onto the wires, but is there ANY scientific explanation for this ??

I have 20% metal tint and I have no GPS, and no Radio issues. Had it on the car since the first week.

The only thing I thikn the tint does is it seems to make the FM stations sound very commercial... all I hear is commercials, wonder if that's what the tint does..

I can't give a detailed description, but I think the metal interfering even though the antenna is on top: is the result of the radiation given off by the metal ions in the tint, cuppled with the fact that metal is a major conductor of electricity as well. Any Chemists on the board?

I have heard that metal tint interfers with AM radio reception; not FM. It can also block the signal from your cell phone.

And, as stated, Acura Navi owner's manual says not to use metallic tint on the back window as it will adversly impact the GPS signal.

If you are in a strong signal area it might not make a difference for you.

After 14,000 miles I just noticed the scratches on my tint. I'm assuming they were caused by the lack of felt on the wiper strips.

My question for you guys : is it the responsibility of the installer to have that put on? Or is this something where they can get away with saying "hey, it's the way the car was built - it's not a workmanship defect"?

I would say its a little of both. In the end it goes back to the window tinter. He is the one that put on the tint and should be aware of possible problems. If it is a reputable place they should take care of it.
