Mercedes Blue Glass Mod...

Does anyone have any clue if they make a tint that looks similar to the blue glass that Mercedes Benz uses? Or what the pricing might look like to get blue glass windows made like mercedes for a TL? I think that is one of the nicest subtle features about a Mercedes and would LOVE to have those windows on my TL!!!

there has got to be a tint that has that color, even though mercedes has it built into the glass.

I TOO loved that about the mercedes and ALMOST bought the car over the TL because of just that fact (flame away)....

however I went to a few different reputable tint shops here in FL and I was told they make the tint but none of them would do the install and warranty their work because they said the tint over time would fade (like a year or so into it) and they wouldnt replace the tint. Apparently the tint has some kind of material that makes it blue and that will fade from the sun.

Ron Dog is right too the Mercedes is NOT TINT, it's the actual glass.

Let me know though if you find a place that can do it and warranty the work.. I would drive to Cali for that.. I just love driving the TL. 16 drivable days and she has 2900 miles on her.

I don't know if there is a tint out there that can approximate the Mercedes blue glass. I really doubt it. I work for PPG Industries and we supply side and rear windows in 3 different colors(Solar Green, GL-20 and the blue) to Mercedes. The blue glass is unique to Mercedes and no other auto manufacturer uses it. Since this is a color that is permiated thru the glass and the TL's windows are actually a darker color (Solar Green) it would be very difficult to tint the glass a blue tint and accurately copy the Mercedes blue. It would, at the least, be a much darker blue after the tint was applied.

Have you guys seen the glass roof top from the ferrari super america? it's electro-static or electro something. Basically a current runs through the glass and it darkens the glass. That would be cool. I think the new Jaguar has it as well. But you wonder, wouldn't it eat up the battery if you left the car sitting for a while?

ther is a place in da bronx called lorenzos they are one of the best tinters around they ahve this tint that makes it seem like a mercedes it has a bluish tint to it and its a lil more reflective bt it clocks uv rays and at night it helps with the glare of headlights. hes so confident in it that he says if the galr eof the headlights or an problems occur just go back to him and he will take it off and work with you to do another tint. how do i know this i just dropped my 92 legend off today to get 15s all around except the windsheild.

I too almost bought a Mercedes C-class sedan over the TL due to the glass alone. But I gave myself a reality check and realized that that TL had more bang for the buck. I was downtown with the wife this weekend and I saw a C-class and found myself briefly adoring the blue glass.
