Memory seat question
Whats up TL peeps, are the memory seats in the TL linked to the key fob or do they only work when you hit the button on the door?

Edit: Right - like Mark said.
Well, each FOB is specified as either 1 or 2. So if you make changes to your seat and press memory button 1 then next time you go to your car and unlock the doors - if your seats were changed in any way during last drive, but not saved to 1, when you unlock the door with FOB, they will assume that saved postion for 1. Lets pretend - If my wife takes my car using FOB 2, when she unlocks the door with FOB 2 it will move seat to her settings.

They're linked to the key fob, but you have to program it through the door buttons. You have 2 fobs...on the back, one says Memory Seat 1, the other Memory Seat 2...they correspond to the buttons on the door. Set your mirrors and drivers seat where you want them, then press and hold either button 1 or 2 for a couple of seconds until it beeps. Memory Seat 1 or 2 is now set. When you unlock the car with fob 1, the seat and mirrors move to the setting associated with fob 1...same for fob 2/button 2, if you program it.

Thats cool, so I would be able to set memory button for the Fob i'm using to a comfortable "driving" position and the other memory position to a comfortable "entry/exit" position. I could hit the second button before exiting for easier entry/exit, then hit the fob for ideal driving position...thats a great feature...

So far no one has given the crucial bit of information necessary for proper operation.
You have to be sure the remote is linked to the car. To do this, press the lock and unlock buttons at the same time. The light will flash once to show it is linked, and twice to show it is not linked. Press both again if it is not set to what you want, linked or unlinked.
When it is unlinked, nothing will happen, which is probably why you are not seeing the results you asked about.
See page 86, middle column, of the Owner's Manual.

I'm not sure if you could reprogram the fob to put the seat in one position for one push (entry/exit) and then another for two pushes (driving). Do a search for threads about fob mods...there are some folks here with the knowledge of such things, so it could be possible. That or carry both fobs, unlock with fob 1 (entry), sit down, lock with fob 1, unlock with fob 2 (driving)...reverse order to get out of car.

It can be done.
Method 1. He programs #2 to go back all the way, and #1 to the setting he prefers when driving.
When he exits, he presses #2 and the seat goes all the way back. Then, when he unlocks the door, if he is quick, he can get in before the seat has moved forward very much.
Or.
Method 2. He can unlink the keyfob from the car. Then when he unlocks the car the seat will be in the rearward position and will not move, and when he gets in he presses #1 and the seat moves forward to the driving position.

A combination of those might work, though...program #1 for driving, #2 for entry/exit, and unlink the remote. Remote opens door, sit down, press #1, drive, press #2, get up, lock door. Seat is already in the entry/exit position for next time...no need to rush to jump in. From what you said, this should work, too, right?
Rereading it, it actually sounds like your method 2...
