mazda 6

Wow that's a close one. You have a little more power but weigh about 115lbs more as well. From mags I've seen the TL was low 7's and the Mazda 6 is high 6's. I'll say drivers race. I do think the gearing in the 6 is better though. Never been in a 99 TL but if we're just talking by numbers it looks like a drivers race. Just don't go out and try to race the new Mazdaspeed 6, It'll eat you up! LOL

I'm seeing figures of 8 seconds for the Mazda 6. But this was before they changed over to the 6 speed AT.
Its a peaky engine. Puts out less than 200 lb/ft. The power comes in above 5,500. Your friend's lack of a manual tranny won't help him on the launch. I think you'll get him from the drop but he might pull on the high end.

While the 6s wont set any 1/4 mile records for V6 sedans, it's respectably quick. But, its strong suit (and Mazda's, in general) is handling and great looks.
99 TL + 6s AT = driver's race.

I drove an 05 mazda6 V6 before I bought my 03 TL type s. TL was way better in all aspects. Mazda semi-suto tranny was sluggish in comparision. TL is a little heavier, but it seems to pull harder. Not sure what the numbers are on paper, but type s should get the better of the mazda 6.
