Maxgold no longer yellow!?
Maxgold no longer yellow!?
For those who are interested to get the amber bulbs, you may want to know this. I ordered a pair of Max Gold 9006 bulbs from Midnight Moose for my fog lights, when I received them, they are different than the one advertised in their website.
The package looks similar, the bulb glass is still yellow (maybe a shade less), but it is now labeled "Xenon PremiuM" Xenon Gold. It states: New Xe4200K HID look. The lens of the Xenon Gold Bulb is optically dyed to transform the headlight into intensive WHITE beam which simulates the appearance of HID beam color.
I have not tried it because I plan to return for exchange or refund, as I need yellow fogs to avoid being flashed for hi-beam. I've emailed them to inquire but has not gotten a reply yet (they don't seem to have a phone # listed in their website).
I believe the output of this new 4200K bulb should be close to our stock HID headlight, which has a yellow Hue (band) near top of beam pattern too; probably matches well but can easily be mistaken as hi-beam. The Amber/yellow bulbs should have Kelvin temp around 2000 - 2500K, not 4200K.
Has anyone also bought this? Tried it? Appreciate any comments.

Yes, they said the package is a mistake, good quality control on the packaging, they must have lifted the wording from thier white bulbs.
If they have a yellow lens, they are yellow (mine were the same as what you say and are yellow).

I know what you see in pictures (especially digital photos) may differ quite a bit than the real thing, but the glass on these bulbs appear a shade less yellow compared to the pic in midnight moose website & quite a bit less than the Polarg Pure Yellow ($80/pair). It's just a bit yellower than the PIAA Ion-plasma yellow ($75/pair), which I have & is a big disappointment. Hope the output of these matches the one in the pic posted by LED Master.
Ok, they are not deep yellow, but see for your self in my photo gallery link:

They were much better than the yellow ion's I installed.
the photo gallery has photos with the amber turn signal so you can compare the yellows
Not all will like it, but it stops me from getting high beamed, which was my main reason for doing it, otherwise I like clear better, but the placement messes other people up to think it is a high beam.
