Max price you'd pay for an '04?

If you are choosing between an 04 and 05, what do you think is the breaking point between the extra depreciation on the 04 versus the higher price of the 05? Lets assume I'll drive the car at least 5 years.

I'm thinking ~31000-31200 for non-navi

and 32500-33000 for navi.

I'm looking at buying in the denver area and the dealer that has a few 6-speeds said they were looking to get about 800off MSRP for the car. REDICULOUS if you ask me. The 4 dealers in Denver/Colo Springs pretty much have a price fix in this area. Next closest dealer is 5 hours by car. I'm going to sit down with them on Saturday and see if they change their mind. I think I at least want 2k off sticker. :|

Wish me luck and opinions welcome.

It should be less than that...

Dysd,

Are the dealers showing any inventory in their lots?? If so, once 05 comes out, say a few weeks, the price will have to drop a few grand. You will have to weigh in the minor (if) differences between 04 & 05 especially if you are keeping it for a few years. Most likely get a 04 when the price drops.

Well I think there are plenty of Auto's out there, the 6MT is the hard part. One out of the four dealers last I checked had inventory. As of friday, they will have 2 navi, 2 non-navi. I would rather buy the non-navi. One of the navi is in my favorite color combo (anth/qtz) but the non-navi is SSM/ebony which isn't bad! The other two have parchment (don't like!). I think if I wait another couple of weeks, there won't be a 6mt around....but I guess thats why they won't deal on price.

Will find out on Saturday.

your #'s were the #'s i saw this past May. now that it's end-of-year you should be able to do better.

offer "dealer invoice" + 500 - (3% * MSRP), invoice is hard to know. with Toyota i always asked for the VIR (vehicle inquiry report) which showed line item dealer costs. some sales guys pretended to not know what the VIR was, others knew but did not want to show it, and the dealer that i bought my truck from showed me the VIR.
