Matte black vs. Matte white

Been thinking about painting my car for quite some time now..

Wanted some feed back on if you all think a Matte white would look good or not?
I have already seen a matte black and its pretty good looking with the right body work and accents but i think the whit would be one of a kind (in my area at lease)

let me know what you think!

I'm going to paint mine a matte white pearl. Flat white doesn't look great IMO... Good luck with what whatever you do.

Based on the plasti-dip pictures, which mimic a matte finish pretty well, I'd say matte black. Matte white, or any other color for that matter, looks sort of unfinished IMO. Whereas matte black looks more intentional and modern. Matte black and grey can look like primer however. Just my

Doesn't someone here on AZ have a matte white Type-S?

Personally I wouldn't spend my money on something that's been done before, especially matte black. Only supercars can properly make it work well

Here's the matte white Type S: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/think-flat-matte-white-acura-tl-type-s-now-imagine-852162/

It looks good but if you want your paint to stand out, I'd do matte black. The matte white (at least in pics) isn't really that noticeable.

I'd agree. Maybe its different in person, but the pics make matte white look plasticy and not that differnt. The matte black is immediately noticeable. I'd imagine the darker the color the bigger the difference.

When you matte paint a car you're mostly getting rid of the specular highlights. (The generally white reflections) The diffuse color is the paint color you normally see. So the contrast between specular and diffuse is greatest on dark colors. That means you'll see the most change by killing the specular highlights.

What color is the car now and what kind of condition is the paint in? Unless your paint is in really bad shape save your money for something else.

Sean,

I have been wanting to do a similar set up with the matte white vinyl and gloss black roof. I was wondering if you had any pictures that show off the entire car to get a better idea of what a matte white wrap looks like in comparison to the matte white paint and in general.

I have been wanting to do this for a long time, my NHBP paint is getting annoying to keep up and my brother managed to get swirls all over the car when he borrowed the car... Needless to say it makes me a little sad haha.

The guy that did my clear bra also does this matte white finish. He was telling me its a pain to keep clean and once you get oil or greasy hands on it, it wont come out. If you do any maintenance or take it out somewhere, watch your hand placements.
