Is matte black color illegal?

I've seen some european cars with matte black color these days. Such as BMW 5series, Porsche 911, Porsche Cayenne, etc. But I've seen only one Acura, with that color on it. And it was an MDX. It looked awesome. And I was wondering if the color was illegal in state of Nevada. Oh and was wondering why isn't there any 3rd gen TL to have that color(maybe I haven't seen one). Anyways, please let me know. Thanks.

I think the reason you don't see more is the care they require.

In Florida, supposedly you can get fined if you have the same color combination as the FHP.

that is for impersonation of a state official. Matte black cars are road legal, there isn't a ban on colors unless it mimics official cars such as ambulances, police cars, etc. its usually up to the manufacturer to choose the colors.

...it will become a state law after you have your TL outfitted with a matte black finish and you start to put other drivers on the road in a trance, who will then wreck.

The matte black absorbs radar and laser beams and the cops can't clock you..just like the F-117 and B-2....lol

I'm pretty sure they use a special paint, not the type you would typically use on a car. Otherwise that would be a very expensive paint job... Plus, those planes are specially designed with angles to reflect radar.

Haha they can still clock you. It just is harder on non-gloss, or black cars. They want something more reflective. Just because it is a bit more difficult doesn't mean they can't get you, they will.

btw the stealth bomber is stealth because of the design, not the color paint. they could of painted it any color, its just the type of metal and the angles at which the body is made.

The angles of the aircraft surface are in part responsible for it's stealth capabilities, as well as use of dielectric composities in the airframe and a coating of Radar Absorbant Material (RAM), which in the case of the B-2 and F-117, is a paint which consists of tiny spheres coated with carbonyl iron ferrite. In the simplest terms, it converts rader waves to heat instead of bouncing them back.

mglax is right the black paint DOES have something to do with the stealth aircraft's stealthiness in addition to the other design elements, there is a reason it is flat black. Being flat black in itself is a adjuant property to it's stealthiness, they didn't paint it any other color or gloss black on purpose. I wish we could get a hold of that paint.....but then there is a perfect example of a paintjob that would be illegal. lol. You'd be in jail and interrogated by the CIA for that. haha.

Haha, could you imagine? This reminds me of the story of a guy that worked in a jet propulsion lab and stole a rocket and strapped it to his car...it was one of those darwin awards or something.
