matico tint

Has anyone heard of a tint film brand called Matico (spelling???)? Any thoughts on it?

Matico tint is pretty good stuff. It is a product that is made by 3M. A local stereo/tint shop that is very good at what they do uses this stuff excusively. I don't think they would mess around with cheap stuff. Oh, and if you have navi, they have a product called "colorstay" tint. It is a non-metallic tint that will not interfear with the navigation.

tlguy:

thanks for the info. the shop that i called said they use matico tint. i've never heard of it, so i wanted to make sure the tint doesnt fade and turn purple after a couple of years. haha...

as long as its reliable...

still dont know if i should get the felt installed. this tint shop said its not necessary. he said its not worth taking the door panel apart for it.

anyone who had scratches before, are they really really that noticable?

if they say its not necessary, get IN WRITING that they will replace the tint if it does scratch since they will not intall the moleskin, OR, install it yourself, I have heard its not hard

Matico is a very good film i have been using it for some time now. the only flaw i have found is that it does scrath alittle bit more the johnson or sunguard. i would suggest the felt but if they say they need to remove the door panel take it somewhere else. i have never had to remove the door panel for anything. also make sure the back window is done in one piece.

I thought it was Madico and it is not a 3M product.

Regardless, Madico is common. I've got it on mine (not sure which product, might be Onyx). Seems pretty good but I am getting a few descrete scratches, even with felt/moleskin. I've had it about a year.

In theory a metallic tint can reduce or block reception of signals for the GPS and/or AM/FM radio. In practice , but I haven't had any problems.

I've been bamboozled. This thread is 5 years old.

Tinting yourself is difficult if you have never done it before, and most people would NOT recommend trying it. It will end up costing you more money after you scrap a few pieces with mistakes...
