Marysville Ohio..tranny?
alright fellas, a few weeks ago I bought a 07 NBP. When I got home and was looking at the sticker i noticed that point of assembly is Marysville, OH (wich I knew) but what surprised me was that the transmission says 100% USA. Everything says 100% USA. I love America, please dont get me wrong..just curious. I thought that it was from Japan, along with all HONDA products? I noticed that the RL is 100% all JAPAN. please inform...thanks..

"Made in Japan" is not all it's cracked up to be. The tranny production was moved to in-house production in Ohio because the Japanese-made tranny for the 2G TL, made by a contractor, was so bad that it turned into a PR disaster for Acura--first online starting on this site, then eventually in the real world media.

The only thing Japan does better is paint. I've had several Acura's with various Japan part content....the only thing I really considered superior was the one painted in Japan.

Believe me when I say that I am intimately familiar with the paint dept. at Honda in Marysville. Starting last year, it is "state of the art".

My brother in law always gives me a rash of sh__t for buying Acuras, since he is retired from GM in Dayton, Ohio. Now some of his precious GM cars have less American content than my Acura!

Same parts content info here, she came off the line 11/03, prolly the first batch
Btw she had been recalled w/ this tranny for the 2nd gear inspection, had about 5K miles at the time, no problem has been found with the gear but they did install an oil jet for better 2nd gear lube as part of the recall!
No problems so far, knock on wood, using Amsoil Syn ATF to help lower temps and firm up the shifts since I'm supercharged! Still, only 22K miles on the clock, we'll see how this Jap tranny holds up over time Prolly made by Aisin, Toyota/Lexus use them too!

^With the early 3Gen not such a minor inconvenience I'd say, they fucked up again not nearly as bad as with the 2Gen tranny but still, should have gotten it right after the the 2Gen circus! I had to sell my 2Gen for that reason, bought a 3Gen and again fucking tranny problems, what a pleasant surprise it was! Not merely an inconvenience man, let's be honest, Honda's bad with auto trannies.................. brakes, tires, paint, etc.

I live in marysville about 15 miles from the plant. My car came from an associate there. It is a small town (until honda showed up) and alot of neighbors work there. It has been good for our area except for the traffic. they make quite a few motorcycles here also. I have even plowed snow there, huge place.
