Question MaintenanceMinder....HELP !!!!!

Ok....someone must have an answer for this. MM showed A service for my last maintenance....which was at about 25,700 miles. I had that done. Now MM is showing I am due for an A1 Service (oil change and tire rotation) and I am at about 31,600 miles.

Here is my question.....I thought at around 30,000 miles it was supposed to be a
B123 or something like that (Oil change, tire rotation, filter replacements, inspections, brake service (whatever the hell that is), etc)

I thought I finally understood this thing but now I am completely confused....

By the way....B interval showed up on my MM at 16,090 miles.

Helppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp.... ..arghhhhh

Throw that 30,000 mile idea away and replace it with the MID, which will tell you what to do and when.

The A1 is an oil change and tire rotation. AT 31,600 miles you must have done the tire rotation at least 3 times because the average miles for a rotation is around 7,500, so you are due for another one, plus the oil change.

You didn't mention anything about a tire rotation so I hope you have done some previously, and if you didn't then someone missed it.

Ron....this will be my first rotation on these tires....I just had new rims and tires put on in July.

I did a summary of what I have done so far....here it is...you can see the first several times I went in for service BEFORE MM displayed on the dash...

1) 3,750 miles - Maintenance Minder A (not yet displayed)

2) 7,438 miles - Maintenance Minder A1 (not yet displayed)

3) 11,122 miles - Maintenance Minder A (not yet displayed)

4) 16,090 miles - Maintenance Minder B (displayed)

5) 21,551 miles - Maintenance Minder A1 (displayed)

6) 26,717 miles - Maintenance Minder A (displayed)

7) 31,600 miles - Maintenance Minder A1 (displayed)

Looking at this....I am assuming that B123 or B23 should display on the dash for the next maintenance interval....does that sound right to you ?

Thanks !

The MID is is based on engine operating conditions and accumulated engine revolutions. This does not normally equate to mileage as everyone's driving habits are unique. My MID is indicating an A12 service with a tad over 26K and my last service was a B1.

You appear to be right on target for your maintenance items up to this point.

You might see B2 the next time it is displayed, but B3 won't show up for a long time, because the severe operating conditions interval is 60,000 miles, so the normal interval might be somewhere around 90,000 miles, which is a ridiculously high mileage for changing the tranny fluid.

You should start doing the single drain and refill around 30,000, so now would be a good time to get it done. Not absolutely necessary but good preventive maintenance.

Hey Ron....thanks again. I had my transmission fluid changed the last time I went in to that GM Synchromesh MT fluid on my dealer's recommendation. The stuff is great by the way.

I guess the bottom line is just read the dashboard when the MID comes up and do what it tells me to do....

Damn....this car is turning me submissive.....LOL

Cool

Ok I am resurrecting this thread because my theory on what would show next on my MM was once again WRONG.

It is showing up as MM schedule B only. I thought a B2 would show up with 2 being the replacement of the air cleaner element and the AC Vent filters replacment (dust and pollen filters).

There is a service that the dealer told me they normally perform at 30,000 miles which comes to about 380.00 (which seems ludicrous to me). That service has never been performed since my MM never said it needed to be performed. That service would include brake inspection (part of MM B), the above filter changes (MM 2), transmission fluid change (MM 3 which has yet to display but I changed the tranny fluid anyway because I switched to the GM Synchromesh stuff), tire rotation (part of MM B), oil change (part of MM B).

I guess it all boils down to this.....with the dealership telling me they usually do certain maintenence items based on the mileage of the car and not what MM is displaying, are they just trying to soak me for a lot of service costs that I don't need to have done yet ?

As Ron A told me in this thread before, it seems that the MM should be accurate. I was always under the impression that the thing is there to let you know exactly what you should have done and WHEN you should have it done independent of the mileage on the car.

I'm going to tell the dealership to just do whatever the MM display say to do (minus the tire rotation because where I bought the tires does that for free). I just hope I am not neglecting having something done that really needs to be done.

Thanks for any input !!
