Maintenance / Mods / Ideas / Criticism...

2008 6 MT TLS NBP / standard black / grey seats / interior.

2nd owner, original owner who bought it with 7 miles was from Plano, Texas, car was purchased with 118,363 miles in October of 2020.

Car was delivered from Plano, Texas to Springfield, Missouri in a enclosed trailer.

120,020 miles now, it's my 2nd car. 2007 auto TLS (same color) is the daily driver. Yea yea I have twins lol...this 6MT is my "Friday" driver.

No dash cracks, no seat rips. Timing belt, water pump, serp belt service done (Aisin timing belt kit), serp belt is Bando, NGK plugs done 600 miles ago. New Aisin thermostat as well. Honda fluid.

Tein Flex Z's, SPC rear upper arms. Installed by Acura of St. Louis. Modest drop.

Blacked out front grill wrap (minus the Acura logo...still chrome) Black wrapped rear chrome piece above license plate.

Front Aspec lip. NBP purchased and installed..

Fully tinted (not sure on % but VERY dark, for sure less then 35%) besides windshield (windshield isn't tinted besides factory).

Painted Brembo calipers - red.

Yellow lamin-x fog covers. (Easy removal, peel off - done)

Tires...stock size 235/45/17 at I'd guess 60%. Rims are a 9 of 10.

HFL disabled (battery drain)

Carbon fiber hydro dipped windshield cowl.

ACDelco GM Original Equipment 10-4014 Friction Modified Synchromesh Transmission Fluid.

Clutch delay valve delete. Heeltoe

OEM Acura all 4 door window visors/deflectors.

Rear roof spoiler. NBP purchased and installed.

"Acura" and "TL" badges deleted from trunk, Type S badge remains.

Oil changes meticulously done at 50% oil life (firm believer) Mobil 1.

Sequential smoked lens door mirror turn signals installed.

Depo smoked chrome delete tailights installed.

S Farbric Fabrication carbon front splitter purchased and installed.

I have some OEM lower ball joints coming Monday from oemacuraparts.com, do you all think doing the compliance bushings would be smart as well. Really wouldn't mind doing the upper control arms either. I'm having a hard time justifying spending $350 on a CAI. And I've pondered a rear muffler delete or should I just man up and get a ATLP lol. I'd also like to get rid of the wheel well gap, so I've looked at some H&R 15mm spacers. Reason being is I really do like the Type S rims vs going with a aftermarket 17x8.5 or 17x9 rim. I guess this post was part - can I recall everything I've done, and part what should I tackle next. Any suggestions? And or criticisms? I'm a big boy so...

Nice find!

It shouldn't need ball joints or control arms at this point, but good call on buying those from an Acura dealer.

I don't love the idea of spacers because of what the reduction in offset does to ride quality, steering, and tyre wear. But...lower offset wheels do essentiallality the same thing.

The best bet is to find wheels that maintain ~a +45 offset but are wider. Not sure how close something like a 17x9+45 will get you to being flush with the fender, but it will maintain a lot of the good aspects that Acura engineered into the ride/steering.

At this age, you probably do want to look at compliance bushings. You probs already know...but the type S ones are unique.

Cool, then I'll just go ahead and do the compliance bushings too they're only $84 for the pair. https://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-pa...ce-51394sepa11

Good time to do ball joints and compliance bushings. Perhaps consider motor mounts (front and side at least), in case those are shot.

No sir not a single issue! It's odd (for me anyways) because I am a pretty big OEM guy, but I had a buddy who's Type S was totaled and had the Aisin thermostat still new in the box (he was getting ready to do the whole timing belt job as well) and he literally just gave it to me. But happy to report, it's worked perfectly fine.

I see on Rockauto the Aisin thermostat goes for $17.37 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=2200&jsn=822

And a OEM thermostat for $54.90 https://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-pa...at-19301p8ea10

I was just curious as I never really looked that up before...
