Maintenance can someone point me in the right direction
Trying to figure out what maintenance i need to do on my car but don't really come up with any thing using the search button...
if there is a thread out there listing maintenance routines at mileage intervals that would be appreciated!
I have a little over 80K miles onmy TL and haven't done anything other than normal oil changes I know I have been neglecting i just drive a lot! want to get the services needed done before i run into any probs due to lack of maintenance.
Thanks for any help!

Change the Brake fluid every 24 months
Change Auto Transmission Fluid every 30K miles
Change timing belt and associated parts at 105K miles
Change coolant every 7 years or 100K
that's all I can come up with off the top of my head...

Look in the owners manual but if you have an auto don't follow the maintenance interval for the transmission fluid from the manual. Search here for that.

might look a lil funky with a staggered set up but i will take the tires back to discount tires every 6 months and pay the $20 bucks a tire to have them break off the tires from the rims and have them switched... only way i can rotate my tires being staggered and directional tires
thanks same as above
i did find my owners manual and checked it out... when do we need to replace timing belts? it said 60K miles if driven on mountains and what not but what about normal driving maybe 100K miles?

You may want to search for AT fluids. Honda Fluid is garbage and almost everyone here runs something else. Most people run Redline Racing. Honda won't do that for you though.

again i do all my stuff at home....she is at 150K miles and sitting pretty
:knockonwood:
tranny flush is doing a drain and refill 3 times....since every drain you get 3 quarts out its called 3x3....you do this to get the full fluid out....you will go through 12 qts of fluid in the process...
again i wouldnt recommend switching the tranny fluid from stock z1 to the redline racing ATF all in 1 go....do a drain and refill and see how the tranny reacts...if alls good do another drain and refill in the next 1000 miles....
so in 4K miles you will redline racing in your system and you should be good to go....

yup....i get the car aligned every time i do an oil change....i have the firestone lifetime alignment....plus i know the folks were there....so rotation+balancing is also take care off
i used to take alignment and rotation for granted....my falken zeix 912 lasted me 16000 miles before the camber/toe wear drove it bald....my current fuzions have 40K miles and am barely down to 60% of the thread

1> cheaper...its simple why pay for it
2> dealers use a pump to suck all the fluid out and put the new one in...i would hate the metal shavings from the tranny to be in there even with the new fluid....
3> as i mentioned i would change the fluid every 1K mile to get all the new fluid in (incase am switching)....if am sticking to z1 then i would do a drain refill every time i do an oil change....this will prolong ur tranny's life....
4> read all the above and you wont need another reason LOL

Can you use a screwdriver without hurting yourself? If yes, save yourself a TON of money and change the filters yourself. You can buy the same honda filters from amazon.com for much less and put it in yourself. The instructions and scans from the factory service manual are posted in the 3G Service Dept.
It should take about 10 minutes for the engine filter and 25-30 for the cabin filter. All you need is a philips head screw driver and that's it!

I didn't mean to sound rude in my post but if you lowered your own car changing the filters will be a piece of cake! The DIY's are in the 3G Service Dept. along with tons of photos and even video's!

yup, you are smart....i did everything on my car....when time came around for timing belt...even thow there was a great DIY, i took it in....
my suggestion would be buying everything outside and taking it in there....for 105K they do:
water pump/timing belt/serpentine belt/spark plugs/tensioner....you can get the kit with everything for like 300ish....do the spark plugs urself....and take it in for the rest....i did that and they charged me $400 for the install...done in $700....
that was a great feeling LOL

I just took mine into the dealer and they did the full used car inspection for 120 bucks. I am new to all this so I wanted to get a good idea of what was going on with my TL. It definitely sucked paying the 120 just for the inspection but they wrote down everything and the cost (dealer cost). They even told me my air filter needed changed even though I just changed it the day before when I got an oil change. They do wash and vacuum your car for you though.

cabin air filter took all of 10 minutes to change and only cost $20 from oemacuraparts.com so saved me $70 on that note compared to what the dealer wanted.... tranny oil i will change this weekend... then next weekend swap brake fluid
